Bonnet charge when all I did was plug in to charge through OVO Charge?

Does anyone know why I have suddenly been charged a £2 “Bonnet Boost” charge. This is not something that I am aware that I signed up to in any sense. (Not directly nor through a Charge Anytime Plan.) Clueless!

Apparently, I signed up for 6 months free. Never used it. Team efficiently processed refund. Thank you.

According to Google…

Bonnet Boost is a subscription service for the Bonnet app that offers 10–15% discounts on public EV charging across its network. Available for a small monthly fee (e.g., £2/month), it provides cheaper rates, removes extra fees, and includes premium app features like route planning.

Sounds like the App has signed you up for the monthly subscription service.

Well, yes it does. But how? All I did yesterday was connect my car and check the charging schedule in OvoCharge. Then an invoice appeared….!

Hi,

Definitely one for the team! Please have a word with them via Live Chat at https://www.joinbonnet.com/ and they’ll take a look.

That's the trouble with signing up for ‘free’ things which are attached to some kind of payment method. They promise you that it's free and you can cancel the subscription at any point but people who have busy lives can sometimes forget. Then they start billing you for the subscription and hope you don't notice that the free period has ended. That may not be exactly your case but is how free stuff ends up costing you even if you don't use it.

I generally avoid doing that for that reason. The other reason is that they make it very easy (sometimes even invisible) to subscribe and make it devilishly difficult to unsubscribe. When I see the word subscription I generally run very fast in the other direction.

Lol. They have been very good about cancelling, but I know what you mean

I'm pleased to hear the customer service team sorted that out for quickly. Thank you for mentioning that.

Apologies for the accidental sign up - we’ll feed this back to the relevant team. I’m glad this is all sorted now, and thanks @DaveThorn76 @Blastoise186 and @Peter E for your help on this thread.
