Hey @Graff25

I’m glad to see a couple of our volunteers have already stopped by to help you out here, I just wanted to pop on and clear up the time frame of when you can cancel without the exit fees being applied.

Firedog is correct in that the industry rule is we must allow 49 days, all suppliers must offer a 49 day grace period when reaching the end of your contract to allow you to switch without exit fees. This is stated by Ofgem. We offer a 53 day grace period instead, you can find more about this on the help article too, there’s a helpful section titled ‘Will I be charged an early exit fee?’.

Additionally, customers do not need to pay exit fees when switching to Pay as you go, or when a contract ends due to moving house.

I hope this helps.

If you quit now, then YES it will. If you wait until 30 days before End of Contract OR when you get the renewal invite, it’ll be waived.

The rule is the exit fee isn’t payable if you switch after 49 days before the contract’s end date. That was yesterday ...

My lease will end before the 12-month term. If I switch now, will this be considered an early exit and result in charges on my fixed tariff?

No. It’s quite clear in the terms and conditions:

You won’t have to pay an exit fee if:

  • you cancel your energy plan because you’ve moved house;

Read the rest of Section 10 there, which explains what you should do when moving out.

Hey @shubhamkhandelwal

Welcome to the OVO Online Community

Firedog has given some helpful advice here, you just need to let us know you’re moving out via your online account or app & we’ll close your account. You won’t be charged an exit fee. Then when you move into your new property you’ll inherit the supplier there & can decide whether you’d like to switch away from them.
