Make Power Move emails more informative

Hi everybody,

Here is an idea that I hope you will support:

Can I suggest that the half-monthly PM emails include a link to the calculation showing the peak and daily total for each eligible day and the whole period.

This would help both those who believe the calculation is wrong (or that the whole thing is a con) and those of us who need a little extra help to see how we could hit the targets.

I don’t know how to put forward a proposition and get votes in favour (or, indeed, against) but if you like this idea, please like the post or reply to show your support.

Thanks,

Simon

You could open this up to a wider audience and post as an idea to garner more interest and judge the level of engagement.
Although regulars might well be supportive, it might need more to get some attention.
As I’m no longer part of this, I can’t specifically comment but I’m a firm believer in data to support behaviour and change.
One thing with the info available is that it might not be possible to get everything together easily

Yes, I’m sure that even showing the single calculation of

weekday peak hours total kWh consumed to mid-month

divided by

weekday total kWh consumed to mid-month

would be helpful and reassuring as a way of checking one’s own calculations.

This is an idea that might deflect a number of posts from dissatisfied customers and even reduce the number of calls to support. I’m not quite sure what link you might be referring to, but the email could include:

  • a line reading something like:
Total eligible consumption for dd weekdays nnn kWh, of which mmm kWh between 4PM and 7PM, equivalent to ppp%.
  • if appropriate, lines reading:
These weekdays were excluded from the calculation for the reason given:
         22/12/2023 - Missing usage data for 08:30 to 10:00
         28/12/2023 - No data received before 13:00 on 30/12/2023

With any luck, a mod will transform this thread into an idea tomorrow. Thanks for putting it forward 🙂

Thanks @BPLightlog .

When I went to post, the only options were question or discussion. I couldn't see how to post an idea. Can you or @Tim_OVO advise how to post an idea?

Don’t know if it differs in a group but generally you should see

I agree!. But why is this information not on my OVO account page itself? There is no mention whatsoever of Power Move there. The half-hourly consumption is already shown for each day in 2 columns - before midday and after midday - what use is that? Why not display peak  and off-peak in the two columns?

It can’t be beyond the skills of the OVO tech team then to add a total at the bottom of each column and show the peak as a percentage of the total for the day if it’s a working day - that would be a start!

They really don’t want to make it easy for us do they!

Mike
