Current average monthly electric bills costing £ 500, question with the current energy prices is this similar to everyone else with the same kind of system ? Is the ASHP pump running efficiently at this kind of prices?

That sounds rather high. What sort of system and set up do you have?

Grant Aerona 17kW R32,

MonoWave heat pump cylinder 300l, Hive Active Heating and Hot Water Thermostat UK7004202, Grant MagOne Filter, Grant Automatic Domestic Hot Water Boost Kit (timed),Grant Hot Water Priority Relay (2 CH Zones), 30 litre insulated volumiser, Flow meter including fill & flush points.

Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and radiators upstairs,

Not sure if it makes a difference but the upstairs thermostat can never reach the target temperature its set too.

Currently paying 31.49 per KW, In Jan 2023 says it used 1446.06 KW

You need to find out if the problem is that your house needs lots of heat or your heat pump is running inefficiently. The way to do that is to get your COP figures (coefficient of performance) from the heat pump? Ideally you want separate COP figures for heating and hot water.

If your COP is high then the problem is that your house needs lots of heat. If it's low your heat pump is running inefficiently and you might be able to change some settings to improve it.

@B7LLY21 That doesn’t sound quite right - we have a similarly sized and styled setup and generally have problems getting downstairs (underfloor heating) to reach temperature because it’s slow to react compared to radiators upstairs (super quick heat).

I too would recommend calculating your COP. When Hive asks for heat upstairs, are all your radiators hot from top to bottom?
