Best way to switch to OVO from Boost Power prepayment?

Thanks. I attempted to do this years ago (long before the current price rises) after being on BOOST (which I wasn’t originally consulted about) for a couple of years. I was told it wasn’t possible because they’d become separate organisations. Has this now changed ?

Sort of. At the time, it was impossible to switch between the two sides on your own, without you first relaying via a supplier capable of moving you between Pay As You Go <> Pay Monthly, and then jumping back to the other side.

Some recent changes have been made internally though, which allows the Support Teams for both OVO and Boost to move your account between the two directly, by using an internal process. There’s still no support for self-service transfers that I’m aware of though.

Boost has always been owned by OVO, it’s essentially a trading name of OVO Energy Ltd, which is the same company that OVO Energy itself runs under (it’s complicated business stuff!).

Thanks. I’m in the queue for Boost’s support chat (maybe even a real person!). Good to hear that it’s easier to move accounts (back) to OVO. You’d think OVO would have a page on ‘how to switch to us’ (even from a supplier other than Boost) but it’s ‘how to switch away from us’.

That’s actually… A pretty good point that I hadn’t thought of! I think there’s a way it can be suggested, but I forgot how to do it as it’s been ages since I last did that.
