My 'free' hour is when I am on holiday. Can I have it postponed until I return?

Hey all,

Thanks for the questions @Ratty - I’ve reached out internally and got some answers to your questions!

Power Move Flex - Free Hours of Electricity

As Power Move Flex is a trial, we're testing different reward methods. Some customers are able to earn up to 2 hours of free electricity instead of a £ per kWh reward. This is split into 2 groups:

Earn by how much you shift - In this group, customers can earn based on the amount of electricity they shift above or below their baseline, every 0.5 kWh = half an hour of free electricity the following week, up to a maximum of 2 hours.

Earn by how consistently you shift - In this group, customers can earn based on the amount of events they successfully shift electricity above or below their baseline, every 1 event successfully shifted in -half an hour of electricity the following week, up to a maximum of 2 hours.

Customers will be told in their weekly summary how much free electricity they've earned, and when they can use it.

These hours can't be changed, banked or exchanged. The free electricity is capped at 1 kWh per hour.

These free hours are completely separate/additional to the free hours you can get if you are a customer with Beyond, you won't see these hours in your app and they will be paid back by a separate bill credit and show on your bill as a Power Move Flex bill credit.

I hope this helps you and if you have any follow up questions then leave them on the thread and I can look for a response for you.

No, the power move hours cannot be postponed or moved. They are based on energy usage on the day and time. Look out for more power move opportunities when you return from holiday. Believe the same applies to any free hours too.

Well mine was on Sunday when l was at work. and l think l have another free time that is when l at work again so l will miss out again. nothing l can do about it. it is quite difficult when you haven’t got a chance to use your free electricity.

I'm not sure at all just which scheme is being discussed here?

To me it seems like the OP means:

Free Energy - You can get 2 hours a week of a maximum 1kWh free each hour.

The replies appear to be about two different reward schemes

Power Move standard - Reduce your energy use on weekdays between 17:00 and 19:00 for a month to get entries into a prize draw.

Power Move Flex - You get an email saying to use less or use more at certain times to then earn a reward.

As long as you opt in for the free hours, they appear to give you the credit as I got the monthly 98p credit when I was on holiday, router and fridge/freezer on.

Doesn't seem worth it, however, its 98p off my bill each month so I'll tske it!!

Hi @Ratty ,

I think you’re talking about the OVO Beyond 2 free hours a week thing, is that right?

If so, then I’m afraid once you choose and confirm your hours for a particular week, they are locked in immediately and cannot be modified. Likewise, if you don’t set them by the weekly deadline, they expire and cannot be re-issued/refreshed - they simply get banana genes and go rotten. It’s still worth setting them even if you’re not going to be around as any usage whatsoever during the selected hours would still result in the reward doing something positive to your bill.

If you’re talking about any Power Move Flex related rewards, the same rules apply I’m afraid - once it’s confirmed, it’s locked in immediately.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough. I am new to this.

Earlier, I got an email from OVO saying my Power Move Flex results were in. And that I can use free electricity on Sunday 03 Aug, from 12 noon to 1:00 PM.

But I’m away. So I would like to be able to bank this hour for when I am around.

This would seem a reasonable request. I am sure many others will out of the house at this time

@Ratty  if it is the 2 free hrs with beyond you are referring to.

At a maximum of 1 kWh per hr free in any given 1hr slot,  go enjoy your holiday.

1 kWh = č 25pence

I’m still a bit confused which free hours OP was referring to? If they are the Power Move Flex Free Hours, then there is no need to postpone them, as they are the hours credited to the bill, am I correct?

I would suggest to be more accurate with the naming. We have two separate Free Hours here, and that is confusing.
