I have noticed since joining power move that the half hour reading before it starts is higher than it should be. How accurate are the timed readings ?

Can you clarify what you are seeing and where? How much higher?

I haven’t noticed anything like that, here’s a clip from my spreadsheet for the past 7 days, with the PM hours in red:

Are you perhaps using extra just before PM starts?
That’s why a couple of mine are slightly higher than the rest of the afternoon.
eg. boiling a kettle to fill a flask so that I can make a hot drink during PM.

If I cook my meal just before PM then that will show up.
eg. This was a Friday so I probably did fish and chips in the air fryer, looking at the numbers I’d say probably starting at about 4.25 and finishing cooking at about 4.45 before PM started.
(0.25 kWh above my normal background would be about right for 20 mins of air fryer).

Sorry wrong one, should have said Power move flex. When there is a “power up” hour I try not to use much the half hour before it starts but it reads higher than I expect.
I’m wondering if there is a lag on the smart meter sending half hour readings

Yes the naming of the different ‘Power Move’ schemes can be confusing.

I've  not noticed any such lag in my electricty smart meter.

However I do know that my Gas smart meter (they only send every half hour) shows an odd 6 minute advance in readings.

ie. When my boiler is set to fire up at 07.00 a slight gas usage is shown in the half hour before.

It's not my boiler timer, I have done testing by changing the boiler start time, and if I set it to start at 07.06 all gas usage is recorded as being after 07.00.

Nothing to do with this post really, apart from showing that odd things can happen.

Morning @David A and welcome to the Forum!

Could you provide us with some screenshots of what you’re seeing? I’ve moved your post across into the Power Move Flex area of the Forum 😊.
