How do I claim the Papa John pizza offer in Beyond?

How do you claim your free Papa John pizza.

I missed the codes last week so set a reminder to check again today and successfully got my code in a email from Ovo.

I then went to Papa John’s web site and ordered a small pizza for collection this evening.  But, when you enter the code the checkout box disappears.  It only seems to stay available if you order something additional which of course you have to pay for.

How then do I claim my free pizza?   I’m not registered on their (Papa John’s) web site nor have I got their app.  I don’t particularly want to because no doubt they’ll want excessive personal details that they don’t really need but could sell like others do just for some food e.g. Greggs or Costa.

I’ve also just popped into my local branch of Papa John’s to see if they received the order but they said they have no access to the computer system and when I showed them me ordering it again on my phone, up to the disappearance of the checkout box, they said they couldn’t help me.

Can anyone advise how this is supposed to work.

Never mind, I think I’ve sorted it.  By entering the code first, before choosing the pizza type the checkout button stays visible.
Papa John’s still asks you for your name, email and mobile number and auto enrols you in receiving their marketing but there is a check box option to exclude yourself from that marketing.  I used those.  My only concern is what do they do with the data they have received.  I’d prefer it if they gave their data retention policy and even better if they auto deleted my data after a week or so.

Hmmm, I found that I still had an Ovo tab open in my iPads browser, one which said:

Your reward is on its way.

Thank you for providing your details. We've sent you an email with instructions on how to redeem your reward. If you haven't received it in 5 minutes, don't forget to check your junk/spam folder too.

If you have any issues, please contact TLC and a customer service agent will be in touch to help.

I hadn’t noticed the bit about TLC or especially noted their details before.  Their privacy policy with details of sharing my data is of concern.  Had I have known that in advance then I certainly would not have claimed the pizza offer.  I’d like to know what if any data Ovo shares with TLC in this process.

@Paul4AA thanks for your post.

As @Blastoise186 has helpfully advised there won’t be anything spurious going on here. You could always try contacting TLC to request your details are removed from their systems.

At most, it seems like it’d just be whatever you plug into the form.

Except that it seems TLC auto-purge your data 90 days after whatever you requested from them has been delivered - that seems pretty reasonable to me. With the data expunged, they can’t do anything else with it.

What Papa Johns does with your data is beyond OVO’s reasonable control though - you’d need to take that up with Papa Johns.

What TLC’s multiple partners who they’ve probably shared the data with is the concern.

I suggest that Ovo should have investigated these matters, including Papa John’s and made it clear from the start.

I doubt OVO or TLC would hand your data over to Papa Johns in that way - there’s simply no need for them to do so. It’s more likely Papa Johns just handed over a ton of voucher codes to go into a pool, and TLC simply grabs one to send out whenever requested.

Ultimately, if you don’t like the privacy policy… Don’t use the service!
