'Something went wrong' linking OVO account for Charge Anytime after switching to OVO?

Today is my first day with Ovo and I’m struggling!  I specifically joined Ovo to avail of Charge Anytime but I keep being told by the app that something went wrong when it tries to link the accounts.  I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling it and the Ovo app, can log on successfully online without any issues, but this issue persists.

It’s just a little frustrating and I need this working before I start heavily using my car from Wednesday.

Any suggestions?

Hey @Suprsi ,

It’s a little too soon to set up Charge Anytime. You need to wait up to six weeks after joining OVO for things to settle down and your account is transferred from your old supplier. After that, you can set up Charge Anytime.

Thanks Blastoise but 6 weeks!  It doesn’t state that anywhere when I signed up, nor in the FAQ, and when I check on the Ovo site it says I can do it.  6 weeks is too long knowing that I could get cheap overnight charging with Octopus imimediately.

That’s because it takes up to six weeks for the meters to reconnect anytime you change supplier. Even if you went to Octopus, you’d still be waiting up to six weeks before you could use their cheap charging deal.

It could be faster though. Try again once a week and when things are ready, you can set it up.

I will see that the FAQ etc gets fixed. Leave that with me.

Interesting.  So will I get notification as to when I can sign up properly or do I just need to keep on trying?

Keep trying. But you do have a good point so I’ll ask whether that might be possible too.

It’s a new offering, so things are a bit rough around the edges.

Can I add Charge Anytime as soon as I've switched to OVO Energy?

If you’re switching to OVO Energy and would like to add Charge Anytime to your plan, you’ll need to wait until your energy supply and online account is fully set up. This could take up to 4-6 weeks.

Once you’re all set up, head over to the 'Offers and Upgrades' section in your online account and select ‘Charge Anytime’.

Keep an eye on this page for when daily smart meter readings start to come through.

https://account.ovoenergy.com/meter-readings/history/electricity

And also the usage page when you start to see a Daily tab with 30min data.

https://account.ovoenergy.com/usage?datePeriod=daily&unit=kwh&fuel=electricity

Not guaranteed, but reasonable to expect Anytime to work once you can see these.

Brilliant, thanks a million

I’ve just completed my switch to OVO purely for the Charge Anytime product, but when I went to the Offers section, which is where I had previously seen the option to select, I find that it is no longer there.

Has Charge Anytime been discontinued?

I think you need to be with them for a few days before you get the option, that was what happened to mine and this was about 3 months ago.

Try https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/charge-anytime as well. It seems they let you get to it from there

This is what the link shows me. Hopefully it’s just locked out for the time being:

Just tried the link https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/charge-anytime and it works ok for me. Anything unusual about your account? Have a smart meter etc?

Nothing that I am aware of.

I have a smart meter, recently installed for both electric and gas, and the transfer to Ovo went very smoothly.

I’m hoping that it is, as a previous poster said, that there is a delay for new customers.

I’ll give it a few days and try again.

OK, so maybe a bit longer than a few days, but at least I know this is not unusual.

I was beginning to think that the product had been pulled.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

Hey @Bazza20

Sorry to hear about the delay getting the Charge Anytime account set up fully.

Great advice from BPLightlog! Keep us updated on this Bazza20, it could be helpful for others to know from experience how long to expect the full set up to take.
