I have a green LED light on my key meter  which is on constantly. It used to be red and flash . Why has it changed.

Hi @Bootneck1664 ,

Please show us photos of your meter as I can’t figure this out without those.

Thanks

Hey @Bootneck1664

Welcome to the Forum, I’m glad to see Blastoise186 has already stopped to ask for a photo of the meter.

If you could share a photo, that’d be really helpful so we can try and figure out what’s going on.

Won’t allow me to upload a photo,  too big apparently. Pretty simple. There’s a led which was flashing red and is now permanently green in a KBD Itron Ace 9000 meter

The red LED can’t turn green on that model. Please email the image to forum@ovoenergy.com and we can get it up for you.

Hey @Bootneck1664

Thanks for emailing the photo for us, we’ve been able to add it to the thread now:

@Blastoise186 it does look green to me. @Bootneck1664  I don’t suppose you have an idea of when it may have changed from red to green?

Hmmmmm…

This... Is going to take some time…

My best guess right now is something’s not right with the unit and I’d probably suggest swapping out for a Smart Meter anyway.

I’ll be back once I’ve had some time to think this through.

Ok, I’m back!

This is a Reverse Run/Reverse Energy Detection. You’ve either got Solar Panels, a backfeed issue or someone’s tampering with your setup. This requires attention so please contact OVO Support for help with this - they’ll need to get someone out to investigate further.

Man this was a tricky one...

No worries. If you do end up swapping the meter out for a Smart Meter, OVO can usually transfer over any credit/debt balances for you so you don’t lose anything. However, as Forum Volunteers, we generally recommend running the meter down low (but not to zero!) before the swap to minimise how much credit sits in limbo while it gets moved over.

The other important thing to know is that how you top-up will change - the key/card you use now will stop working and you’ll need to use the new barcodes and website/app to top-up.

Keep us posted on how things go!
