So you’re coming to the end of your fixed plan with OVO and need to decide the best plan for you going forward? Or maybe you’re currently on the Standard Variable plan (Simpler Energy) and want to fix in?
Unless you really need to chat through your options, you don’t need to give us a call in order to view the available plans, you can do this on your online account or OVO app (download for Android or iOS). However, if you need to call us in order to renew your energy plan, you can reach one of our amazing customer support team here.
We’ll email you (or send a letter if you’ve opted in to postal communications) to let you know when you’re in your renewal window. This is the 53 day grace period at the end of every fixed energy plan. During this time you’ll be able to fix in to a new plan with us, decide to go for a variable plan - or switch away with no exit fees if you’d like.
When you log in to your online account or open up your OVO app during the renewal period, you’ll see a renewal message on the ‘Plan’ page. Click on the ‘Choose your new plan’ button to see the options available:

On the next page you’ll be able to see all our available plans, with the suggested monthly Direct Debit costs, based upon your annual usage.

When you’ve selected a tariff, you can then select ‘View more details’, which will open a page displaying the tariff rates (inc 5% VAT), the exit fee amounts, and the estimated yearly cost, based upon your usage.

Found the plan for you? Click ‘Continue’ to choose this plan. You’’ then be directed to the next page, where you can see, and agree to, the Cooling off period, Faster Switching Policy, and Terms and Conditions:

You’ll then see the confirmation page, where you can check your personal details, meter reading frequency, and the new tariff details.

Once you’re happy with everything, you can select ‘Confirm your renewal’. You’ll then see a confirmation screen which will also show you some optional add-ons:

We’ll send your renewal confirmation documents through via email or post, depending on our communication preference. When you receive the documentation, make sure to check that your personal details and plan details are corect. If you decide you’d like to change the new contract to a different one, or cancel the renewal, you can do within the 14 day cooling off period without incurring any exit fees.
If you haven’t selected a new plan before your current plan comes to an end, your account will automatically roll onto our Simpler plan. This is a flexible variable tariff that is protected by the Variable Price Cap, read more about this here.
