If I move to Simpler Energy plan after my fixed plan ends, will I still get additional rewards like Heat Pump Plus?

I am reaching the end of my current 1 year fixed tariff and am considering my options. My system seems to be more complex that the various chat bots and AI can cope with. I have emailed OVO but from past experience do not hold out a great deal of hope in getting a satiscatory response.

Currently I am using charge any time for charging our two electric vehicles

I also have a Heat pump and am enrolled in Heat Pump plus.

Together they amount to about 75% of our kWh usage and so the “rebates” they attract are of significance.

I am looking around at other suppliers ( yes I am sore about OVO cheerfully doubling the cost of car charging but that’s up to them, it is up to me to make choices).

My real question is, if I switch to OVO simpler i.e. that the cost perkWh can vary with the market, will i still get the “rebates” from Heat Pump plus and charge anytime.? To put this in perspective, the two together ran at up to £200 a month.  Now I suspect that will be £150 due to the change in charge anytime rates.

My current inclination is to stay with OVO for the time being, especially as I am in credit with them to the tune of £1500 since they seem incapable of joining up their various sections to get a sensible prediction of costs.

Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give.

Regards

Tim

Hi @Tim a victim ,

If you leave OVO outright, you should still get any credits from CA/HPP/PM/PMF or anything else that you earned while on-supply. You’ll see those on the Final Bill, if not sooner.

Simpler Energy Direct Debit still qualifies for those offers IIRC so you’ll still get them.

If you switch to the Simpler Energy Pay On-Demand, you will LOSE all those offers, but you’ll still get the credits you racked up while you qualified for them.

Thanks for your help as always @Blastoise186!

@Tim a victim if you do switch to the Simpler Energy plan then your rates will change when Ofgem apply the Variable Price Cap change. You can find out more about this on Ofgem’s website here.

Simpler Energy can often be the most expensive rate to be on, however this is not always the case. The variable rates often go down, but we find out with very short notice. Ultimately, it really can be a gamble these days as to whether it’s best to be on a fixed plan, or the variable tariff.

With the amount of credit you’re getting back each month, you probably won’t notice the difference in price too much.

Thanks, but that is not my question. If I switch from a fixed tarff to the Simpler Energy( still with OVO), will I still qualify for the rebates on an ongoing basis I am also enrolled in the Havenwise trial by the way.

Yes, as long as you continue paying via Direct Debit you’ll get them.
