We have seen a number of queries about the ability to see all of OVOs current tariff, even if you subsequently have to phone up to choose some or all of them.

Unfortunately OVO don't make it easy. So you have to phone up.

Some providers do let you access some or all of their rates, for example by entering your postcode on their website. Others let you download a document.

For example here is a download of the current price cap rates for economy 7 from EDF.

https://www.edfenergy.com/sites/default/files/r1299.pdf

For Octopus simply enter your postcode at the bottom of this page rather than select the "Get a quote" button.

https://octopus.energy/tariffs/

Then you can see all the current Octopus tariff.

It really isn't difficult functionality to build. OVO have all the data already.

It would really help if there was a self service way of customers seeing the current OVO rates all time, even if customers then had to phone up to choose one of the rates. I am a big believer in self service facilities to free up the OVO  Support Team for more serious queries. It is not a good use of peoples time. At some stage hopefully rates will start to fall and some people on high fixed rates may then want to consider cancelling their current fixed rate, even after considering any exit fee.

Thanks for sharing this idea and the great detail you’ve provided about how other suppliers go about showing the available tariff and plans. Great stuff, @Jeffus!

I’ll change the status of this idea to ‘Open for votes’ and our product team will be sent the details. I’ll come back with an update when I have it. I’ve assigned this to the ‘online account’ product.

Great find @Jeffus

It's the first time I've seen Economy 7 EPG rates listed. (around 45p/kWh / 15p/kWh)

Also interesting to see their EV tariff which was previously relaunching at over 60p/kWh peak and 30p/kWh is now around 40p/kWh peak and 15p/kWh off-peak, so that's a big reduction.

Here is where you will find the Scottish Power rates.

Note at the time of posting these haven't been updated for the Energy Price Guarantee

https://www2.scottishpower.co.uk/tariff-information.process?execution=e1s4

To view tariff you need to fill in the boxes and then click on the View Tariffs button rather than the Get Quotes button.

@Tim_OVO As part of the Ofgem licence confirmations, is OVO under any obligation to take on new customers on the Simpler Energy plan if they ask to switch from another Supplier?

Hi @Jeffus yes, we're currently accepting new customers onto our Standard Variable Tariff (SVT). Anyone can switch to OVO by calling us - we're open Monday to Friday 8:00am - 6:00pm: 0330 303 5063.

On a related note, see our latest advice on the The new government Energy Price Guarantee

Good to see all the information in one place. Let's hope the government don't make it any more complicated next year 😁

An update on this product idea for you as well, @Jeffus:

This is something the tariffs team are working on, once complete customers will be able to simply input their post code and be presented with all of the available tariff options.

Currently customers can do this via their online account via the tariff switching journey, however we understand that this means logging in.

Good to hear, although the last paragraph i think misunderstands the issue?

You can't see alternatives when you are on a Fixed rate unless you are close to the end of your plan

You can't see rates if you are a potential new customer

That was the reason we raised the idea and the issues we were seeing.

Anyway good to hear about the change. It brings OVO in line with other suppliers

SSE page for viewing region tariff.

Both current and historical.

Although not yet including the Energy Price Guarantee

Is this exposing poor administration by Ovo? They appear to be an outlier in that they cannot seem to produce a simple table of new rates, by payment mechanism and region. Reading the Jeffus post I rechecked SSE this morning and even they have finally published the EPG rates and aren’t SSE a part of the Ovo group?

A supplement to this suggestion:
Please provide translations for the names of tariffs I’ve seen in the past on switching sites, what my tariff is called according to my IHD and the names of plans as given on the OVO website. For example, my tariff is allegedly
OE_E_11_R_2_27_20210114
which is supposed to indicate something like
2 Year Fixed Energy - Economy 7 04 November 2020
with a few more details.

I suspect that the tariff code is in fact wrong, which would explain why my IHD shows the wrong rates. They are correct at the online account, but I’ve found no way to check what the code should be.

@Tim_OVO any further updates on when this will be available?

The re release of the quote tool isn't useful unfortunately as customers still need to phone up unless they pay by direct debit. Also doesn't show alternatives e.g. E7 if you have a standard meter (current ovo limitations aside).

The SSE tool isn't a bad starting point, bit  there are lots of examples if the OVO team look at other suppliers

I’ll ask for an update on this ^ @Jeffus :)

@Firedog it depends on the model of IHD that you have, as to what name the plan appears as. I’d recommend you refer to your online account’s Plan section for plan name and prices:

https://account.ovoenergy.com/plan

Thanks, but that simply shows 2 Year Fixed Energy - Economy 7. There are many tariffs called that, all with different rates. According to my bill, mine is the variety labelled 04 November 2020, which is clearly different from the one my IHD thinks I’ve got. I can’t find this anywhere in the online account.

Would have been useful for this poster to compare and contrast all rates given what look like a potential incorrect rate given by the support team
