I currently have dhw set to heat max 50c and a max temp drop of 10c with a run time of 90 minutes and restricted mode of 30 minutes. Seems to work fine.

Wondering about scheduled times though.

If I set it to heat early in the morning and again Mid to late afternoon so as to take advantage of any solar power, would that be more economical?

I like to know what takes precedence, say for instance the water temp dropped to about 44c just before the second scheduled time, would the water be heated again at that scheduled point or just skip it until the next scheduled time the next morning?

Hey @Raze1000

Welcome to the Forum, great questions and I hope that a couple of the community members with an Ecodan might also be able to help here.

We’ve also got quite a lot of topics on Ecodans and how they’re set up that might be helpful to you, I’ve linked to just a few of those below but you can also find more by searching ‘ecodan’ on the homepage of the forum;

Keep us updated with how you get on with your set up.

Hi @Raze1000 ,

I have an ecodan and Solar. My hot water is set to 50C on timer twice a day. Once at 4:30am (as I have an overnight EV rate until 5:30) and once at 12:30pm (maximum chance that the solar is cranking). I think this is more efficient than running the hysteresis approach although its easier to run out of hot water this way.

I didn’t think you could run both, I thought it was either timed or hysteresis, but I could be wrong

Thanks.

Think I'll try it on 2 heat times and see how it goes. There's only 2 in the house so reckon it should work OK then.

Hi @Raze1000

If you have scheduled times for dhw, then in the scheduled period if the water drops by 10 degrees or more it will start to heat up the water to 50C.

I have mine set for hot water in the morning (comes on at 5:30am for 2hrs) and in the evening (comes on at 6pm for 2hrs).  I don’t have any solar.

I have it set to 50C, max drop 10C, so at 5:30am if the water is at 44C the system won’t turn on until the water drops below 40C, this could be at 7:00am, meaning the system would kick-in for 30min to try and push the water temp back up to 50C before turning off again at the end of the 2hr scheduled window, 7:30am.

That sounds pretty much what I need thanks.
