Question

How can I be rewarded for moving my electric usage.?

How can I get start earning towards some “Free” Electric or “Money Off” if I do not have a mobile phone.

I used to move my electric usage before by signing up by email - but it seems technology has moved on and left me behind.

Since then I have not bothered being careful when I use electric as I pay the same price with no rewards for moving time slots.

Shame really.

No incentive. Maybe I should move supplier where my efforts are rewarded.?

Hi @Czieka17 ,

You can use a tablet instead if you have one - but the offers in question are app-only at this time.

I already raised this issue a number of times with OVO. While I do have a mobile phone, my sight problems which are only going to get worse, makes it hard for me to see the screen. I hate the number of companies that are transferring our accounts to app based ones. It gives me less autonomy in a world where we should be giving people, like me, more.

I agree, companies should be more fair towards those who, who, due to health issues, are less capable of using mobile devices. Sight is one of them. I have problems with touchscreens due to my other health issues – my fingers just never hit the right letter. Because of that, I’m trying to avoid using my phone. And, remember my words, in 20 years there will be more like me! The tablet could be an answer, but even though I have it, I never use it. My day ends before I sort out all things using my phone and my computer. And because interacting with my computer is a more pleasurable action, there is never time for interacting with a tablet left.

Hey,

I just wanted to take a moment to highlight a really important conversation: accessibility! Depending on the devices you use, there are so many great support options out there for anyone with accessibility needs. These options can help you interact with your devices in ways that suit your unique challenges. It’s all about finding what works best for you! I’ve linked some resources below from Apple and Samsung who make up the market share of devices but for anyone with other devices most companies have their own accessibility pages you can find through a search online.

https://www.apple.com/uk/accessibility/ - You can also visit and Apple Store nearest you in the UK if you’d like to speak to someone in person who can demonstrate some of the different options available in person or visit a Today @ Apple workshop on accessibility.

https://www.samsung.com/uk/sustainability/accessibility/overview/

We’ve had a great time hosting in-person workshops where our team focused on different aspects of accessibility and the challenges people encounter. We were lucky to invite some wonderful individuals from our Forum community to our office for the day to join us in these sessions and share their experiences! I’m sure @Peter E, @Firedog  or @Blastoise186 could give your their experience of the sessions from last year. You can find more on OVO’s accessibility resources at our accessibility website.

@Czieka17 I totally hear you about not having a mobile phone! If you happen to have a tablet or any way to connect online, you can easily log in to check out the rewards available. Most of our customers do have access to mobile devices and apps, which lets us offer more personalised rewards instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. We genuinely want to reward as many customers as possible, and I'm really sorry that your situation has made it a bit tricky for you.

If you come across a supplier with a web-based rewards program, we’d definitely encourage you to explore that option! Our goal is to help you make the most of your energy use since everyone has unique needs. And remember, everyone is welcome in the Forum, no matter your supplier! We can all share our thoughts and work together to make the energy industry a friendlier place for everyone.

If anyone has any questions I can try and offer more resources if needed 😊 I hope this helps!

You mean the event where I blew everyone in the Ampitheatre away so much that Bradley had to explain my terrible jokes? Or the one where I forced Bradley to endure that horrible website with all those distractions? That was fun. XD

But yeah, that was actually pretty useful for me too as I have Autism/ADHD myself. Give me a little time to catch up with my records and I’ll be back shortly.

Having experienced the accessibility lab at OVO it was quite an experience to see how others with limited abilities to see and interact with the world. I don't know if @Czieka17, you have a PC or laptop because you can run apps using an intermediary program like these.

https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/3-free-ways-to-run-android-apps-on-your-pc

You can run the app from the PC which can be set up to provide the text size / contrast needed and have a larger keyboard or other input device. @Blastoise186 may be able to comment what might be the best/most successful program in that respect.

I'm hoping that we have introduced some ideas that might work. I might give it a go myself to see what works but I no longer have an active account to check if anything in particular works successfully or not.

Peter

Thanks everybody…..

Your responses ARE appreciated.!

If I were not such a “Luddite”, no technology here except for an olde wind-up desktop pc, I might have been able to circumnavigate so many problems….

It’s not just - not benefiting from saving on energy…. most shop “loyalty” cards are on mobiles…

Even UK Gov wants everything done online…. Shame on them. Perhaps they should give everyone the technology & training if that’s the route being forced down.

If it’s online - it could crash or even be hacked…. anytime...

That the thing – not any. Desktop computer or laptop are not included. I do remember that the Power Move was available for everyone who used computers, then it was moved to mobiles. I understand, some other personalised offers might not available over computer (even though I don’t understand why). But the Power Move/Power Move Flex? OVO should be interested in the energy move no less than customers. I’m sure better accessible data (results) would encourage more people to continue taking a part in it. Including myself. As I said, I’m avoiding touchscreens, I need a keyboard, a mouse and a big screen to use internet.

Hey @costeek,

Thanks so much for sharing the extra information and links—they're really helpful!

We brought Power Move into the Beyond app to keep all our offers in one convenient spot, making it easier for everyone to find what they need. In the past, some folks missed out because they didn’t know certain offers were available. Now, with just one sign-in, they can check out everything we have to offer, from Power Move to banking EV miles for the future!

Ever since moving Power Move into the Beyond app, we've seen an increase in adoption rates! I’ll chat with the team about the access issues you and others are experiencing as you don't have mobile access to view the app. I want to make sure everyone can enjoy what we have to offer!

I’ll keep you in the loop once I hear back. Thanks again!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share a quick update from my chat with one of the heads of OVO Beyond. He let me know that, for now, most of our offers—like Power Move—will be featured in the Beyond section of the OVO Energy app. That’s where we’ve noticed most of our customers interacting with these offers.

He also really appreciated the feedback you’ve shared about the challenges of accessing them. While we don’t have any immediate plans to change things up, it’s great to see that since Power Move moved into the app, it’s gotten more visibility and is being used by even more customers. Our goal is to make sure these offers are in the best place to reach as many people as possible!

I understand the challenges your facing and i'm sorry there isn't more I can offer you just now. If you've got any questions please let me know and we'll offer support the best we can!
