Dimplex Quantum heaters

Trying to directly compare your own bills against that of someone else is unreliable - it’s impossible to get an apples to apples comparison with a sample size of just two.

As the previous thread suggested, there may be other heater types you can use that might be more suitable for your use case.

Hi @Sleepysusie , I’m not sure if you responded to the last message regarding your current tariff. If you’re not on an economy tariff (E7 or similar), then you will be paying at a higher rate to charge your heaters overnight. 
Edit: just seen your latest comment regarding economy 10. In that case, you will need to make sure that you are being charged accordingly for the times that your heaters are being powered on. If you have a smart meter then this is easier to compare 

Well l don’t know what to suggest . l only have a valiant boiler and radiators. Put the heat on when needed and feel cold. try not to have it on to much if possible.

The other problem is that while Dimplex Quantum heaters can be smart, most councils and housing associations cheap out and de-select the optional controller module that gives them their smart functionality. As a result, they don’t have any of the smart/intelligent features that Dimplex intended… And that kinda makes the problem worse.

I feel for you. I bought a house with storage heaters and they cost a fortune and I never felt warm. Like you I ended up  buying oil filled radiators. When I was buying the next house I refused to even look at houses with storage heaters. I think councils use them as a tick box filler, ticks for green & ticks for cheaper installation not thinking of those who have to live with them

Thank you Sally 123, I so appreciate your reply. I’m going to take the council up on this one, 3 years I’ve been asking for their help. They are my Landlords, they have a duty of care to their tenants surely. 

Which meter do you have? Can you see when it changes from peak to off-peak? What is your daily usage for day and nith time rate? If you check your meter readings, it might help.

  I have quantum  heating in a local authority one bedroom terraced cottage in Scotland. The bills are astronomical and I am still frozen. Over £340 a month in winter. I don’t cook a lot as I am disabled. All money is for heating and hot water with a great big tank. I have an electric shower so only use hot water for kitchen sink and bathroom sink. The heaters charge up over night and also during the day. A during the day  two or three times a day. I have two meters.  This can’t go on. we had the old heaters that were much better and cheaper. Where I live we have extreme weather. No piped  gas. 

If you’re on Economy 7, you shouldn’t be charging those heaters during the day.

Just to check, what tariff are you on?
