Sorry about that, @Bell. It looks like our door staff didn’t get the message.

I’ve come down to have a word and they’re happy to let you in now. Pop in when you can:

Hi @jason.lewis and welcome - we’ll need to wait for a Moderator to add your Forum ID to the access list for the Treehouse.

In the meantime, you’re welcome to browse here on the open/public area.

There are two topics which have content that’s been derived from discussions within the Smart Home Treehouse:

1: Obtaining permission from your DNO

2: Using a heat-pump to reduce your carbon footprint

and please complete your Forum Profile page so we get the basic background details on you. Thanks.

You’re in, @jason.lewis

See Jess’s comment here for some good starting points:

We’re always happy to have another Smart Home trialist onboard. I’ve updated your profile so you can now access the Smart home trial area here. Why not introduce yourself and tell us about your setup in the welcome thread:

Had a powervault  installed end of November last year but haven’t seen any Kaluza information since then?

Hi @Luca Fiderio and thanks for looking in :)

I don’t think the Trial period is due to start until October ‘21. It was never scheduled to operate during the 6 summer months because that’s stated in the T&Cs. But there have been other issues which prevented any software control by Kaluza’s Flex Platform during Dec-March.

I’ve posted a lot of background detail within the Smart Home Treehouse. We’ll just ask the Moderators to allow you access and you’ll then be able to see that.

@Tim_OVO or @Jess_OVO please...

Hi, I've had a Mitsubishi Ecodan 8.5kw installed by Elite  Renewables Ltd.

Interested in how other people felt the retrofit went for them? More to follow!

Howdy @Amarritt ! Welcome to the forum. :)

I can definitely try to request a key for you, but Tim is away for the next week and I'm not quite sure if he's set @Jess_OVO up with the ability to give you access. But we'll get you in as soon as we can.

But first, you must provide the Sekrit Password that was given to you by the team. Without that, you can't be granted entry into the tree house. Muhahahaha!

What's a Sekrit password? Must of missed it or never  seen it!

Welcome along, @Amarritt.

See you’ve passed the initiation test and happy to say that @Tim_OVO remembered to cut me a set of keys before he set off on holiday - so you’re in! :key2:

Great to have another trialist here to share your heat pump experience - why not introduce yourself and your new set-up (photos always go down well here!) -

Hey everyone, Seems like  have missed out on all these comment.

I was accepted and had my heat pump installed in Early Feb Lets say the coldest winter on record and left with no proper heating and hot water during this frost bite.

We have now had a completed installed about a month later with so many snags that are on going to the point we have refused the electrian back to site to correct his damage.

Anyone else still experiencing snagging.

what problem were also reported via GTEC audit report?

Howdy @48havelock !

Welcome to the OVO Forum. I’ve gone ahead and pinged a request to @Tim_OVO to give you a key for the Smart Home Trials Treehouse. We’ll aim to get you in there as soon as we can.

Curious to hear of the snags though. But we’ll be able to discuss that with you once you’re in.

I had to wait over a month for my install to be completed. Infact I'm still waiting for the electrician to complete the testing and paperwork. Anyone else have this problem?

Hold ups were waiting for a specialist water tank to be manufactured as my tank is horizontal in my loft. Photos to follow. Coincided with warm days but cold nights (April) luckily I have solar hot water panels and they left the old tank in place so we had hot water most of the time. More to follow..

All done, @48havelock - thanks for sharing this experience of your install.

You now have access to the private Smart Home Trials area full of topics and info on installation experiences, tips and tricks to using the heat pump and more.

Here’s a good place to start for you and @Amarritt:

I’ve just had my ASHP system installed, which has already prompted me to replace my gas cooker and hob with electric.

Userlevel 7

Great to have another ASHP trialist on board, @Giant Iain!

I’ve just given you access to our specially reserved Smart Home Trails area so why not have a little explore.

We love seeing photos of your set-up here:

Just in time for you to get stuck in over the weekend!

Hi, now I’ve got my ASHP and changed my oven and hob to electric, I want to disconnect my gas to stop having to pay the standing charge. My provider Pure Planet want to charge £126. Is this a standard fee?

Thanks in advance.

Iain

Howdy @Giant Iain !

Sure thing. If you’re part of one of OVO’s Smart Home Trials, I’ll ask @Tim_OVO and @Jess_OVO for a key to the Smart Home Trials Treehouse. We’ll let you know if the key gets granted.

As for your other question… Ironically enough OVO is actually cheaper there! OVO will happily undercut Pure Planet when it comes to removing a gas meter - with a quote of just £106. But you’d have to move your gas (and electricity) supply to OVO first to get this quote to be valid. It’s a chargeable job either way I’m afraid, since it’s not maintenance related and there’s admin paperwork to do as well.

However, once the gas meter is gone and you’ve paid off the meter removal, usage charges and standing charges up to the point of the removal, you’re all done. Standing Charges will cease from the day after the meter is removed and you’ll simply have to pay the bill up to that point. :)
