Free heated throw / blankets not available???

I have just tried to get a free electric throw /blanket. However, OVO have stopped issuing them now (10th January 2025), as they have had a lot of demand, and ran out of stock.

Eligible customers may qualify for direct financial support towards their energy bill or to support existing energy debt and specialist debt and benefits advice to maximise your income.

If you are struggling to pay for energy we can provide options to support, from Direct Debit reductions, emergency credit top ups and debt repayment support, to flexible, extended repayment plans to find a way that can work for you.

Let us know if you have any additional needs or circumstances that may impact how you manage your energy.  We can add you to our Priority Service Register (PSR) to help make your life easier with our specialist service support options.

Energy efficiency upgrades

If you’re eligible, you could get a wide range of energy-saving measures installed through ECO4 – from loft insulation to a new boiler, or even high-end tech like heat pumps. You could get a whole package installed, all for free.

The Warm Home Discount is a one-off £150 discount given to eligible domestic electricity customers to help with energy costs.

Get additional support


Direct Debit

Our payment support tool can help you work out the right payment plan for you. It lets you reduce your Direct Debit payments by up to 15%, to help make energy costs more manageable.


Pay On Demand

If you pay for your energy after getting a bill, you’ve got the option of setting up an affordable payment plan. This spreads your energy costs over time.

Payment plans have been extended to now last up to 3 years, if needed.


Pay As You Go

We’re keeping emergency credit at the increased amount of £15. For anyone who is new to Pay As You Go, we’ll check in with you regularly to help make sure your energy costs are affordable for you.

If you think you’ll struggle to pay your bills this winter,  and you’re an OVO or Boost customer, then you might be eligible. It doesn’t take long to apply for support and you’ll get your answer right away.

When you apply for support, things like household income, any disposable income, and medical needs will be taken into account –  to help prioritise those who need help most.

We won’t be able to offer everything to everyone – but we’re hoping to help as many people as possible. Our specialist teams will be available to speak to any of our customers who are worried about energy costs.

I’m really sorry to say this, but those items sold out like hot cakes and pretty much all of them were gone in under a month. Even if OVO stocks up like crazy, they never seem to last very long I’m afraid - demand is just that high for them.

Welcome to the community! 

 

We launched our Customer Support package back in October and we always see a high demand for support from our customers. I’ve reached out to our team who organise the support package to see if the stock will be replenished or if that’s all we have for this year. We have an article which gives you more information on all the support we can offer and there might be other ways in which we can help support you. 

 

I’ll come back when I have news from the team but if you have any questions let us know. 


Not overly worried yet but applied for this end of October (27/10/25), and told via email that it was successful. When I log into the portal,showing as reviewed and has remained that way. A month since being told that,so I’m guessing a backlog and Exertis will get round to it eventually.. (no contact info on the portal for them)

AFAIK if the request has been reviewed, Exertis will reach out if they plan to send you a throw in the post. You can use the support tool in the portal to get help if needed - or you can reach out to OVO and OVO can chase for you.

The tracking link was not sent. As the temperatures had been so cold and the wait has been as long, I had to source one myself at cost and am now out of pocket.

Apologies ​@mrsparkles5481 that’s really frustrating.

 

We’ve fed this back to the third party that ships these blankets for us. You will still receive the blanket soon - for some reason your application was stuck in their systems.

 

You could log a complaint with OVO and ask if the cost could be reimbursed
