No, OVO offers smart EV charger installations to both customers and non-customers.
What are the benefits of smart charging with Charge Anytime?
Charge Anytime allows your EV to charge during periods when the grid has more renewable energy in it, within the time you’ve set. Meaning it’s less likely your EV will be charged by energy from fossil fuels, reducing costs and helping to reduce carbon.
Are the chargers compatible with solar panels?
Yes, all available chargers are compatible with solar panels, allowing you to use extra solar energy for charging.
What happens on installation day?
Here are the 6 basic steps to a standard installation. Your engineer will:
- Fix the charger to the wall where you want it
- Run the cable from the charger to your electricity meter and clip it neatly to the wall
- Tidy up any mess they’ve made
- Test and commission your charger
- Show you how the charger works and pair it with your mobile device
- Answer any questions you might have

- The 2p a mile claim is based on an EV customer driving the UK average of 7,000 miles at an average of 4 miles per kWh. The Charge Anytime add-on rate on 01/07/2025 is 7p per kWh. Actual sum per mile is 1.75p. Individual costs will vary based on your vehicle efficiency, driving style and weather conditions.
- Average time for a standard installation to be completed once the pre-installation survey has been submitted. Some installations may take longer.
