Problems with Ovo Charge anytime app since chage with Ohme and Renualt app
Before I tear my hair out anymore. Can anyone advise or give me a step by step what I need to do.
I have the Ohme app which worked great. Plug in, accept and off it went. Until OVO have now, in a matter of words divorced with Ohme.
I got the email with the step by step instructions which I followed. Since then I haven't been able to charge my car on the cheap 7p rate and the OVO app doesn't even recognise when the charger is plugged in!
I have a Renault Zoe and also have been having issues with the Renault app. I am hoping there is someone out there that actually knows what they are doing as the help desk at Renault and Ovo, in a word are useless unfortunately

Hey @ZO23,
Welcome to the community! I’ve added an EV badge to your profile!
I’ll tag @Peter E as the Zoe is his specialist subject and should be able to offer some advice. We do have similar threads on the Forum about the Renault Zoe which might help:
Peter also kindly left the contact details for Renault if needed to help link with the Renault servers which i’ll leave below:
giving your registration number (plate) for the car and they will check for you. Due to Brexit you are unable to do this on line (at a cost) and the very friendly and helpful team there can renew your subscription for free for at least another year.
You can also call them on 0344 369 0000. Keep a record of those contact details.
Hopefully this helps!
Thank you @Chris_OVO
I have been in contact with Renault who have renewed my subscription for 12 months.
Now my Renault app is working my OVO charge anytime is requiring additional steps I have attached screenshots.
I have looked and looked and can't see how to do the steps that are required ♀️
Hey @ZO23,
It looks like Mobilize is a standalone charging app that works with your Zoe. If you head to the following link it should allow you to download it:
Amazing, thank you! I will give this a go when I get home tonight!
How many more apps to I need to charge a car
Hi @ZO23
@Chris_OVO has been very helpful here in giving you the help to get your car connected to Renault but that is where my experience ends as I don't do smart charging using Charge Anytime. I have the phase 1 Zoe that is not compatible whereas your car is.
My understanding, limited though it is, is that you can only control the car with the Charge Anytime app and I didn't think using Mobilize was possible but I'm quite likely to be wrong with that.
I'll summon @Blastoise186 as he is nifty with the appropriate links to get cars connected rather than chargers. All I know is that you must set the car to Continuous (Instant) charging (not the Start (Delayed) or Calendar options) and let Charge Anytime control the car timers.
Peter
I will give the mobilize app a go when I get home and see if that works.
The only options I get on my Renault app are the attached for charging. I have tried selected instant and customised and the Charge Anytime doesn't like either options. Renault have since gone very quiet when I have asked them.
I have already charged my car twice without the discounted rate and it is started to get expensive
I can confirm the mobilize app did not work
I had a feeling that might happen…
Try 0330 175 9678 for the Charge Anytime team if you haven’t already - they probably need to dig the logs.
This is on my agenda tomorrow.
I've disconnected my car from the Renault app and Charge anytime app. Signed out, delete the apps and reinstalled them but again it is still asking the same thing.
I have called them once before which they wasn't particularly helpful, but keep the faith.
I just want to charge my car
Thank you for the help though
I have exactly the same issue. Followed all instructions and same error message
Any luck sorting yours @ZO23 ?
Hi @jonoparton
Nope, no luck. I called OVO on Wednesday, they said they would discuss with their technical team. The emailed with yesterday, which I have attached their reply.
I have added all the information on this mobilize app, and then disabled smart charging like the anytime app is asking. Deleted my car and re-added and still says the same thing.
Unfortunately I am started to lose my patient as this has been going on for a month now. No one seems to want to help and I'm left with expensive bills which OVO keep asking me to increase my monthly payments!
I have literally tried everything as well and it’s still not working. It seems to me like there’s a technical glitch in the charge anytime app.
I’ve emailed them today too, with the detail of every step I’ve taken to try to resolve it:
…………………..
Hi,
Since the update whereby Ohme chargers aren’t compatible any longer with charge anytime, I’ve followed all the instructions to connect my EV to charge anytime below:
However, this isn’t working.
My car is compatible (a Renault Scenic e tech 2024 reg).
Please see the below error in the charge anytime app:
- I click on ‘show required actions’ and get this message:
- I’ve done everything in the instructions (firstly, I didn’t have the mobilize smart charge app, so I downloaded it, clicked the 3 … in the top right corner and turned off smart charging):
- the error still shows in the charge anytime app
- I’ve also followed the instruction here to disconnect and reconnect my EV from the account page on charge anytime:
I’ve deleted all apps (My Renault, Charge Anytime and Mobilize Smart Charge), re-installed them and still get the same error message in the charge anytime app.
I’ve also tried to reconnect again without the mobilize smart charge app installed. Still no luck.
My EV is properly connected to the My Renault app so no problem there.
I’ve also been on the charge anytime forum and seen another user (Zo23) has the same issue for their Renault Zoe. Your email to her said the following, all of which I’ve done:
I don’t know why this isn’t working and currently I can’t even charge my car, let alone smart charge it on a preferential rate.
Please can you look into this at your end as it seems like there is a technical bug in your app.
………………….
At the moment I can’t charge my EV at all having disabled smart charging in the Ohme app, per the instructions from OVO Charge anytime.
I’ll see what they say.
I also emailed them Friday, telling them I still have an issue after downloading the Mobilize app and following the steps the Charge Anytime tells me.
They replied saying it will past onto their technical team!
The funny thing is the app last weekend was fine all looked like it was working. Plugged my car in and nothing! Just said my car was unplugged. Thankfully I never deleted the Ohme app so clicked charge through that. Then Sunday the charge anytime app changed and gave this error message about Mobilize.
But once again I am left with no answers over the weekend, trying to limit when I use my car which is hard when you have kids and no other form of transport.
I thought Electirc was the way forward. And it was so easy before.
I had the same thing - when I connected it last weekend, I didn’t have this error. I then went to charge it yesterday and saw the error.
It must be a technical problem.
As much as I don't wish you to have the error it does make me feel better knowing it isn't just me,
I will be chasing them again Monday and will keep you informed
Hey @ZO23 & @jonoparton,
I'm sorry this is still an issue, but I'm glad the Charge Anytime team is investigating it. @ZO23, since you only emailed them on Friday, I recommend waiting a week before following up. Chasing them over the weekend won't give them time to look into it, and the advice will remain the same. Hopefully, they can resolve the issues for you soon!
Hi, @ZO23, my app looks like it’s now working (albeit I haven’t tested an actual charge yet). I went on and I had a message to update the app which seems like it has corrected it:
Hope this is the same for you.
Amazing, mine has asked to update too and now looks like this.
Quick question, as I don't seem to be able to get a definite answer.
Have you kept the Ohme app? Last time the Charge anytime app looked like it was working, i plugged my car in for it just to remain car unplugged.
I have the Ohme app still downloaded and that acknowledged the car was plugged in and charged.
Thanks
Zoe
Yeah I’ve kept the Ohme app, in case charging through Charge Anytime doesn’t work. I can still charge through the Ohme app now, if all else fails (but not get the charge anytime rate).
Because it’s plugged in now, but not charging, the Ohme app is giving me notifications every hour or so asking if I want to approve a charge. There’s a notifications setting which looks like I can switch that off so I’ve given that a go.
One thing I’ve noticed in the Charge Anytime app is that if you set a minimum charge over 0%, it’ll start charging on your standard rate until it reaches that minimum level, then switch to smart charging. I’m hoping I’ve avoided that happening by selecting 0% minimum. Bit crap that tbh as defeats the point of smart charging at a cheaper rate.
Aww lovely, I will keep the Ohme app too. When I spoke to someone at charge anytime there advised me to unlock my Ohme box this is what my settings look like.
I am a bit worried leaving it unlocked incase someone on the off chance tries it.
I have also set it to 0% I think we should be entitled to the full charge at cheap rate
We have seen multiple reports on the Forum that you can safely use the lock charger buttons/approve plug-in functions just fine with Ohme chargers using D2V Mode in Charge Anytime - Ohme is giving bad advice.
If Ohme wishes to provide evidence to the contrary, they are more than welcome to do so.
I’ve left all those settings on. However, my car didn’t charge overnight. It was already on 94% battery but I expected it would charge to full, because my maximum setting is set at 100%.
There doesn’t seem to be a ‘go’ type button for smart charging on the charge anytime app. It’s a lot less obvious than when you approve a plug in on the Ohme app.
To see if it’s working at all, I’ve just tried to start an ‘urgent charge’ and all I get is this:
It’s been like this for 10 mins. And my car doesn’t seem to have updated since 17:53 yesterday. This app is so rubbish! OVO, get a grip!
@ZO23 have you tried to charge your Zoe and had any success with the app? If you have, I’d love to know how you did it please?
@Blastoise186 this was the advice of someone from the Ovo anytime team. I haven't spoken or contacted Ohme at any point, as it isn't my charger that's the issue, the issue is OVO and the app that isn't working!

Keep us posted once the Charge Anytime team have looked into this @ZO23, your advice might be really helpful to other community members.
