Ovo Energy Charging Anytime issues - Porsche Cayenne / SyncEV

In recent weeks there has been an issue with charging my car. The car gets stuck in a state of initializing. At the moment I plug it in and it's charging up to 25% but then for some reason it's not coming back on later.

There are no other settings either on my SyncEV charging unit or in the Porsche that should be impacting this. And I have made no changes from when it was previously working. Given that is getting to 25% I am definitely thinking this as an issue with the OVO charge anytime process.

I think the Indra integration is setting the future departure time in the Porsche app (currently scheduled for Wed 15th Oct, today is Saturday 11th October), which I am told is standard.  However the car now doesnt charge fully either during the day or overnight.

Hey @davecmurray

I’ve chatted with the team about this, and they’ve asked for you to get in touch so they can help sort it out with you. They suggested that if we’re linked through your Porsche ID, setting an earlier "Ready By" time could prevent the charging from pausing.

You can call our Charge Anytime support line on 0330 175 9678 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or email chargeanytime@ovo.com.

Hi @davecmurray ,

Sounds like diagnostics are required. Try 0330 175 9678 during the week - the team needs to dig the logs for this.

However, I’ll swing by again if I can think of any suggestions.

I’ve had a think about this - the Indra integration appears to be irrelevant if you’re using a Sync Charger, so I don’t think that’s related. As you only have a compatible EV, I suspect this is all between CA and EV.

Let me think about this for a bit...

I don't think my charger is compatible. It's only working because of the Porsche being compatible. I think because of this it's that idra that creates the charging timings that then sends that information to the Porsche.

Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if this was because I was still using charge anytime app and they a trying to force people onto OVO charge

That might be a culprit - please migrate to the OVO Charge app and see if that helps.

The old Charge Anytime one is closing down.

Hi All,

Finally I’ve found Im not the only person having issues with the new darn App, My charger Ohme Pro has always worked great and extremely easy to use! just plug it in and away you go! ...then it went downhill from there…..

I’ve a Porsche Hybrid  which only does around 25 miles per charge thus I use the charger several times per day since moving to the new app it just seems to not communicate with the car! eachtime I plug my car in the car responds and start’s to charge the app doesn’t seem to be doing anything then after 10 or so minutes my car goes into sleep and the car’s internal EV timer switches on due to not receiving and data form the app! when I open the app the charger (ovo app) thinks it’s charging yet the car’s is now waiting for the timer to kick in? then you look in the app and the app now says car will start charging in let say a few hours time! even if I change the charging schedule nothing happens..

I’m on the verger of leaving as 1, not too happy with the rate moving from 7p to doubling to 14p, Yes I know they have a £1 a day etc but whats the point if the app isn’t doing it’s job in the first place

the app should have a instant charger to charge then the option  to schedule timing or ready by!

Regards

Hi @GaryP ,

Please call 0330 175 9678 for this - it sounds like the team needs to dig the logs.

To the best of my recollection the Ohme charger is not supported by OVO and so I’m sorry to say that your choices may be limited.

What did you mean by ‘Yes I know they have a £1 a day etc’?

You are not the only customer to feel let down by OVO

Hey @GaryP,

Welcome to the community,

You’ve described how Charge Anytime is meant to function. It will charge your vehicle when the grid is at its greenest, based on the time you set. I’ve consulted with the team, and they recommend using Max Charge on the charger for urgent top-ups (you can find more information here: https://ohme-ev.com/support/how-to-charge-to-full-as-soon-as-possible/). Alternatively, you can delete your Ohme account and any schedules completely. After that, you can manage your charging through the Charge Anytime app, leaving the car plugged in until the "Ready By" time you specified.

@BobTom Some Porsche models are compatible with Charge Anytime. To find out if a vehicle or charger is supported, just check out our list of compatible options on the Charge Anytime website. Remember, you only need either a compatible vehicle or charger to use Charge Anytime—you don't need both!

If you need support, you can call our Charge Anytime support line on 0330 175 9678 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or email chargeanytime@ovo.com. I hope this helps!
