No charge until car unlocked?

Hi, I tried using the smart scheduling for the first time last night to charge my car. My car was unlocked, I plugged in the cable both ends and my charger started to flash, this was around 19:30. Checking my app all night nothing seemed to happen. I last checked at 23:00 and still nothing. Thinking it may not charge until after midnight I went to bed. My app was set to finish by 07:30 but following that this morning, no charge had been started at all since last night. Unlocked my car this morning (changed smart schedule to 10am) and it started charging straight away. Seems strange that it will only start if my car is unlocked? Anyone else had this issue?

Hi Chris,

 

Thanks for your response. I have an Evec EV01 charger and my car is a Jaguar I Pace. I did try again the night following this post, where I had driven my car onto the drive then pluggged it in straight away before locking it. This was Sunday evening and it started charging straight away even though I hadn’t even opened the Ovo Charge App. I’m assuming it felt it was the most efficient charge time along with the car being unlocked?

Charge Anytime allows your vehicle to charge when the grid is at its greenest! This means it can either start charging right away or schedule a session for later. Just to clarify, when you say “locking,” do you mean locking the vehicle or the charger? I’m doing some research on I-Pace Forum to see if anyone else has experienced a similar charging issue to yours. Let’s see what we can find!

Hi Chris,

the first evening I tried I unlocked the car pressing the fob button but hadn’t opened the door. I plugged in the charger lead then the car automatically locked itself again as I hadn’t opened the doors. This was the day/night the charge didn’t work at all.

Just curious, did this happen only on the first night, or has it happened a few times?

Hi Chris, I’ve only charged at home twice now via the Ovo Charge app. Second time was fine as I plugged it in after the car was unlocked and had just been driven. I will try again when it needs charging (has quite a long range ☺️) but will try when locked to see if it happens again.
