Hey @Chris78

Thanks for coming on here with that advice, it’s always good to here it coming from community member’s own experiences. As you’ve said, as you’re connecting through a compatible EV you only need to be using the Charge Anytime app and it’ll charge by the ready by time set in the app. Using any other EV or charger app at the same time may cause issues with charging.

For anyone setting up Charge Anytime with a compatible charger instead of EV, this will be different and we’ve got a handy topic all about how to set up a compatible smart charger with Charge Anytime:

Thanks again Chris78 for popping on with that advice, it’s very much appreciated!😊

Unfortunately this is still an issue. I have a brand new EQA with charge anytime linked via the Mercedes App. I have attempted to fully charge my car about 15 times now. The maximum I can get is 50% due to the known "Gremlins". Following so many unsuccessful attempts I then tried to change the maximum discharge on the mercedes app it immediately changes it back to 50% and stops the charge. The only fix I can find is to issue an urgent charge which defeats the point of charge anytime.

Don’t mess with the settings all the time! Just set it to your desired level once and leave it be. This is intentional behaviour right now because of how the integration is forced to work - Mercedes doesn’t exactly have an amazingly elegant way of making this stuff work compared to other EV manufacturers. During an active session, the limit will raise to your preferred level to enable charging to run.

If you need more advice, call 0330 175 9678.

The issue is this aspect is not happening. Just seems to lock in at 50% and remain at that level the following morning. I will try calling the number.

Hi Ovo Forum

I first posted on this topic thread 4 months ago and have been keeping an eye on comments. Sad to say our Mercedes EQB continues to have this issue on a daily basis still 4 months on. Sometimes I leave the Mercedes app alone and the Charge Anytime app will mysteriously increases the max charge but stops at around 80%, which is still short of the limit I’ve set in the Charge Anytime app at 90% for example. Other times the Mercedes app reverts to 50% and I’ve woken up the next morning to find the car hasn’t charged at all and stopped at 50%. It’s incredibly unreliable and frustrating. Charge Anytime team - is there anything you can do to help?

Hi @rpg28 ,

I’m afraid the Charge Anytime team doesn’t post directly to the Forum - they usually route their responses via the Forum Moderators or through a Forum Volunteer such as myself.

If you need to speak to that team directly, 0330 175 9678 is the fastest way.

OVO Charge Anytime keeps setting my Max charge to 50%, overriding the 80% I set manually.

How can I stop it doing this ?

It’s really inconvenient being able to use only half the battery.

My set up is Mercedes 250+ with ease EV charger

Hi @Steve birkbeck ,

This is intended and expected behaviour because you have a Mercedes. MercedesMe doesn’t offer a proper way to control charging, so this workaround is the best OVO can do to make it work at all at this time.

When charging is active, the limit will increase to your preferred level - so you will get a full charge if that’s what you want.

Hi @Steve birkbeck,

A warm welcome to the OVO Forum, thank you for your post. I can see @Blastoise186 has replied helpfully to you, and I just wanted to share a previous forum topic with you as you might find some of the information helpful

Cheers!

Thanks for this, Blastoise186

And also to  Ben_OVO  for looping me into the previous forum topic : I still have the 50% Max charge problem, so will share my info on that topic.

Very helpful

Where can I see the log of when each charge happened, with amount and cost ? I would like to compare Charge Anytime with what I used to do before i.e. simply use the easee schedule to start charging at midnight.

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi all, I raised a separate issue with this 50% Max charge problem, and was referred to this to discussion - so It ought I’d share my details here.

My set up : Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ Sport with easee charger. Apps :  Merceds-Benz, Easee, OVO ChargeAnytime

I’ve been doing some overnight charges to try and work out what happens - I always set “Ready by 06:40 tomorrow” in ChargeAnytime app.

Sunday night it charged up to 50% then stopped - not good.

Next day I thought I’d try to use Mercedes app to change Max charge, but worryingly I can no longer do this : Ovo seems to have taken complete control !

So I plugged it in again and it started charging, and somehow Max Charge was set to 100%

I left it overnight last night to see what happened, and this morning, according to the apps :

Mercedes : 50% Charging process completed & Max Charge back to 50%

Easee : Completed

ChargeAnytime : “Charging next after 00:00”

I still cannot reset the Max charge using the Mercedes app - I usually go for 80%, and 100% if a long trip planned.

How can I get this to charge more than 50% ?

It’ll all be in the Charge Anytime app IIRC

Sounds like the team needs to dig the logs! Try 0330 175 9678 Option 2

Forum|alt.badge.img

Thanks - what is “IIRC” and where can I find that in the Charge Anytime app ?

I don’t have the app myself so you may need to look around a bit - but I know some of the data eventually hits MyOVO where you can also get to it.

IIRC = If I Recall/Remember Correctly

Hey @Steve birkbeck

Sorry to hear about this. I’m glad one of our volunteers has already stopped by with some really helpful advice on this, it’ll definitely be a good idea to get in touch with the team about this directly as we don’t have access to that kind of data here at the Forum.

How to get in contact with the Charge Anytime team

  • Charge Anytime - 0330 175 9678 (Option 1 new customers/option 2 existing customers)

  • chargeanytime@ovo.com

Let us know how you get on.

Forum|alt.badge.img

I rang the helpline and spoke to a technician, who was very helpful.

She confirmed the advice that ChargeAnytime is not able to charge past 50% battery capacity, and that if I need further charge I should force it with “Start Urgent Charge”.

I tried this, but further problems…

ChargeAnytime app starts off with :Trying to start charging”, but after a while switches to “Your car is not charging Please use your car’s display or phone app if you need to make charging start”.

Not sure I have options here : Mercedes app has no control over the charging & easee app is approved and ready to charge

Any ideas what I could try to resolve this ?

Forum|alt.badge.img

“Start Urgent Charge” doesn't work.

This means that it is not possible to charge my Mercedes battery more than 50% in any way.

I’ve given up on Charge Anytime and deleted my account.

Hi @Steve birkbeck,

I’m sorry to hear you’re still experiencing issues, and I wanted to share with you a recent update:

To update all Forum Members who are part of the Mercedes / Beta Pilot:

This is still a pilot, and some issues - like the 50% total charge problem - may take time to resolve. As a result, the Charge Anytime team is unable to provide further updates at this time.

If the limitations you're experiencing outweigh the benefits of the Charge Anytime add-on, we recommend leaving the pilot for now while we work on improving the service.

We’re sorry for any frustration this may cause. Please keep an eye on the Forum for updates - we’ll share any new developments as soon as we have them.

You can exit the Mercedes Beta Pilot at any time by taking the following steps:

  • Open the OVO Charge Anytime app
  • Click on the "Account" tab in the bottom right
  • Click on the User icon in the top left
  • Click the "Delete account" link
  • Select a reason for leaving and click "Continue"
  • Your app account will now be deleted and there will be no further connection or interaction between your car and the OVO system
  • Note: You will still be credited for any smart charging that you have done up to this point

I’m sorry - I know this isn’t the news you’d want to hear. Hopefully things will be improved soon for Mercedes owners who’d like to use Charge Anytime.

Forum|alt.badge.img

Thanks I’ve done that.

The work around would be ok if the % was higher, but using just half of the battery is no good.

I recommend you bump it up to 80% rather than 50%.
