I have read through some of the forum topics and it is well-documented that Mercedes and Indra/OVO has an as yet unresolved problem, that being the maximum charge level is re-set to 50% by software Gremlins.
I wanted to start a dedicated forum topic about this issue and keep it going until it is resolved, because this is not a minor inconvenience. It would be THE reason for me to not have ordered and signed a finance engagement for a Mercedes EV, or paid over £1000 to OVO for a charger. In my circumstances, charging at home is a key reason to have an EV. Without that, I would go back to a diesel tomorrow.
I will update the thread when Mercedes replies to me by email, now that I have been able to pinpoint the issue for them. So far (before I knew there was a big problem), they have replied quickly but with the generic “reinstall the Mercedes Me app - send fault logs - what phone are you using” etc etc etc.
So, I invite you to write your workarounds (if there are any), your communication with Mercedes and any other useful info on this topic to help other Mercedes EV owners live with this extremely irritating problem.
update today, 1st May 24. Car was 67% charged at around 11pm. I set the max charge level to 100%. Moments later, the app reset the level to 50%. At 7am the car was 90% charged.
So this is not a complete disaster but it is unpredictable and as reported elsewhere in the OVO forum, a long term issue.
Hey
Hey
This was the last update I received from the team:
Its a known issue with Mercedes still being in the Beta testing phase unfortunately. They are still working on it.
In order to stop a charge on Mercedes vehicles, we set the in-vehicle max state of charge to 50% which then shows in the Mercedes vehicle and app. To start charging again, we change the in-vehicle max state of charge back above 50% to the desired level. Unfortunately we are seeing that the increase from 50% to 100% state of charge isn’t being applied reliably on the Mercedes app.
If plugging in when the vehicle is under 50% in the afternoon/evening, we’d advise a workaround of checking the Mercedes app before you go to bed and manually changing the maximum state of charge back up to 100%. This should ensure the vehicle is charged correctly by the ready by time. We appreciate this isn’t ideal, so we’ve got our developers working on a solution to ensure reliable charging in the future.
There may be some more advice on the above topics.
Has anyone found a way around this app keeps changing back to 50%
Does the above advice help
Hi no I have tried to change it to 100% when it has got to 50% and it keeps changing back to 50% ,can’t see y it worked for 2 months when I first started using the app and now it won’t work properly really not good please help
You should have told us that sooner - it would have allowed us to give better advice faster.
If you think there’s a fault, please call 0330 175 9678 Option 2 - the Charge Anytime team can dig into this for you.
i now have the same problem. worked fine for 3 month, now keeps resetting. Really frustrating when I have any longer journeys planned.

Hey
I’ve head back from the team, they've had lots of contact about it. There's a wider issue affecting Mercedes particularly at the moment. If you please contact chargeanytime@ovo.com they can flag that you’re affected and hopefully there'll be a fix for everyone shortly.
I’ll keep this forum topic updated, really sorry for any inconvenience.
Thanks. Appreciate the reply. At least its recognised now as an issue and hopefully a fix is on its way. I already have a ticket open with Mercedes support.
Hi no still not working properly
Hey
I’m sorry to hear that, it sounds very frustating,

When we get an update from the team I’ll let you know on this topic.
Hi there- we have a Mercedes EQV with this exact same issue. Haven’t been able to find any workarounds. What’s the status on this from Ovo and Mercedes?
Hi
AFAIK the Mercedes integration is still in a Beta/Trial phase so it’s not 100% stable yet and OVO can’t guarantee it’ll work flawlessly. I’ll try to dig for more details - bear with me.
A fix is currently being rolled out but isn’t rolled out to everyone yet. Please hang in there and OVO will handle this in the background. Please DO NOT manually fiddle with the charge limits in the meantime. Just set it once to your desired level and leave the system to figure the rest out.
Still got issues after the fix reaches you? 0330 175 9678 Option 2.
Hey
I reached out to the team to ask for an update and they’ve come back with the following which is the latest update from Kaluza -
“Please do not suggest "Mercedes 50% workaround" to the customers as it is an old workaround that was valid for very short time until ENode fixed the issue.
Mercedes customers should not make any manual changes to the SoC in the Mercedes app while on Charge Anytime.
Enode suggest that majority of Mercedes failed charging sessions come from customers manually intervening in the Mercedes app”
If you have any further questions you can speak directly with our Charge Anytime team at 0330 175 9678 (Option 1 new customers/option 2 existing customers) or chargeanytime@ovo.com. They’ll be on hand to help with any questions or support you need.
I hope this helps!
Hi - I’ve also been struggling with this issue for the past year (EQB) - is the advice now not to change settings?? If so what do I do in a situation such as today - car been on charge all night - checked this morning at 6.30 and it stopped charging three hours ago at 50% - I CANT just leave it as I need to make a reasonable length journey today (65miles each way).
In the proposed solution to leave it plugged in all the time, allow it to charge as and when it chooses, but actually never drive anywhere?!
Hi
Have you been able to get in touch with the Charge Anytime team about this yet?
Just got my EQB this week (Indra charger installed by OVO) and I’ve been struggling with this issue, but I think I’ve been given the solution after a call to OVO’s ChargeAnytime team. I had installed OVO’s ChargeAnytime app and registered my car there as instructed, but that seems to be the root of the problem. There’s some instability with the Indra charger, the car and the app all in play. They advised that I deregister my car from the app; delete my account from the app; and then delete the app. I can manage the charging schedule via the Indra website and the car charge level from the car itself of via the MercedesMe app.
I’ve done all that and so far so good! The car is happily charging beyond 50% and towards the 80% max charge target.
Hi
The problems seem to arise if people try to link the car to Charge Anytime, rather than the Charger.
This is correct. You need to make sure that only one or the other is hooked up - never both - otherwise you will experience issues.
If both are compatible, we generally recommend you use the Charger route as it’s usually a bit more reliable - and lets you use ANY EV with it! :)
I’ve been on Anytime with my EQA for a year now (Pod point non compatible charger) and never had a problem of it not charging to the amount on the anytime app. after reading on here about this issue of the Mercedes app changing to 50% I started monitoring it & sure enough it dose change and stop at 50% but later in the night it always carries on to what I’ve set in the anytime app. Try to just ignore the Mercedes app and don’t try to change it. Anytime will sort its self out
