Is the Ohme Epod compatible with OVO's Charge Anytime add on for EV charging?

Forum|alt.badge.img

New untethered Smart Ohme Epod released but not showing on oVo choice of smart chargers. Surely this is an oversight and it will be compatible as it looks like it should be. Any ideas ?

Is your EV on the list for ‘direct to vehicle’ ?

Just had confirmation from OVO that the Ohme epod is compatible.

There are now two ways you can get Charge Anytime:

You must have an eligible EV or Smart Charger, we’re constantly looking into ways to broaden eligibility of this product so if your technology isn’t currently on this list keep an eye on our page for updates!

It might be compatible soon! However, it probably takes time to get things set up backstage before it can be made compatible.

Yep I agree with blatoise, @mirving123 - OVO are working with chargers and electric vehicle manufacturers to unlock Charge Anytime. At the moment the Ohme Epod isn’t on our list of compatible chargers but watch this space.

I see the new Ohme ePod changer works with the Octopus Intelligent tariff so i would expect it to get added to the OVO offer reasonably quickly to keep up.

I am getting the Cupra Born v3 so I can link to the car for now so all good. In regards the Ohme epod it looks the same features of the Ohme that’s listed. I do wonder if I could select the one that’s listed and it would just work🤷‍♂️

Hi

just looking to buy an Ohme ePod - we’re you able to get this up and running? I notice the website and the Twitter team don’t seem to think it’s compatible with the tarriff?

It’s worth giving it a try. :)

Otherwise, Direct 2 Vehicle might be an option

Hyundai doesn’t appear to be supported unfortunately so it’s all down to the charger….

Interestingly the epod is mentioned by Ohme in this announcement on the Kaluza website.

Kaluza supply the software to OVO Energy for the Anytime tariff.

Kaluza is part of the overall OVO Group.

“Ohme is delighted to be an official charging partner of OVO with its Charge Anytime tariff. We are committed to reducing the motoring costs for EV drivers and supporting the global transition to renewable energy and in conjunction with our new ePod charger and best-selling Home Pro charger, this new tariff is a great step towards that.”

Hi

i have Ohme Epod and it works really well. I asked the same question and I had word back from OVO and Ohme that it was fine because the only difference between the Ohme products is that one is tethered and the epod isn’t. ‘Under the bonnet’ it’s the same.

@Tim_OVO can you arrange for the website to be updated to confirm this.  It would have helped us make a decision much more quickly about our charger (we didn’t want tethered so the ePod was the better option for us).  Hoping to have it fitted in a week or two.

@Tim_OVO i don’t suppose you know how I can sign up without your system putting me on an Economy 7 tarriff? I have a single rate SMETS2 smart meter but it seems something somewhere disagrees and nobody in the call centre seems to be able to help…

I’ve flagged it to the team, @Millwardt. Maybe hold off on starting the switch if you’re unable to choose the correct single rate tariff.

In the meantime, can you confirm you’re on the quote page, and it won’t let you unselect the economy 7 option?

Thanks @Tim_OVO  the quote page doesn’t seem to give an option for Economy 7 - when I get through to the next page the only tarriff available has separate Day / Night rates

You’ve called out here wanting a single rate plan to match your meter’s current set up. The Quote page only offer like for like tariffs so somewhere you’re listed as two rate. That’s why the tariffs you’re seeing has separate day and night rates (called Economy 7, our current two rate tariff offering 7 hours of off peak rates).

It might be worth asking your current supplier to check if your meters and your listing on the national database is correctly showing as single rate...

Checked with them yesterday twice by chat, and by phone today and they assure me it’s set to ‘01’ for a standard domestic customer.  Is it possible your system has cached data from some time ago - there was a 2 rate meter when we moved in October 2022 but it was replaced in November
