Disparity in Kwh between car and app / charger

Hi,

Unlike many of the other posters, I’ve had the opposite problem of paying too much for a charge.

The car reckons it received around 17kwh of energy last night (which seems about right, as it was at 70%), but both the Hypervolt app and the OVO Charge app reckon they only supplied 3kwh.
I’m guessing physics hasn’t changed and more likely a computer glitch, but thought I’d raise it with the forum.

Hey @Colingray83

Some good advice there from @divinemadness, thanks for stopping by with that.

I also checked in with the team about this who said they’d need to look on their end so might be best to get in touch with them if it doesn’t correct itself soon.

Let us know how you do get on.😊

Whilst you might initially think ‘great value’ - if 17kWh has actually ended up in the car, then at least 17kWh has come through your meter that you need to pay for. If your charger and Ovo have only clocked up 3kWh worth of smart charging, then the reality is that the other 14kWh probably went in at full price, not discounted EV rates, likely whilst waiting for Hypervolt and Ovo systems to talk to each other and set up a smart schedule.

So you likely have actually paid too much for a charge, because it’s only recognised 3kWh of your 17kWh as being eligible for the discounted rate.

Your probably right - hopefully some back end processing will put it to the correct position.

I’ve dropped the team a note, so hopefully will get back to me shortly. Back end processing hasn’t picked it up.

@Colingray83 good morning, I hope you’re well.

Did you ever hear back from Charge Anytime about this one?

Only the auto-response and will get back in due course, will keep you updated if I hear anything.

I got a reply yesterday from an email I sent on 3rd November, so maybe don’t hold your breath!

Hi,

So the charge team got back to me and they could only see the smaller amount as per Hypervolt. The logs didn’t seem to show the additional electricity.

The car was definitely charged and the only source it could have got it from was through the Hypervolt, so I guess my question is that surely even if the Hypervolt loses internet connection or anything else it should still be able to record the electricity that goes through it? It would then sync later when the connection is restored; appreciate this is more for Hypervolt than OVO, but as a modern system this is what you expect.

update: Hypervolt website says it records up to 7 days of telemetry.

regards
