Comms have been pretty terrible on this. First I knew was an email from Ohme!!

After some searching I get on these forums and find this post which is useful, but Ohme say I won’t be able to use their app for plug-in approvals, but the above suggests that I might as all I need to do is turn off dynamic charging.

I’ve done the above steps but I’m not entirely confident what will be in control next time I charge and as such what it’ll cost me.

I find it hard to believe that only 25% of users will be affected. Motabilty cars came with an Ohme charger installed so every Motability customer with a EV car not on the list is affected.

are OVO going to waive the £100 fees I will incur in having to change suppliers now?!

To be fair here nothing in the Ohme communiction posted in the original post says that it was OVO who pulled out of this arrangement.

It may have been Ohme themselves who pulled out.

Whichever company pullef out it is unfortunate for those affected of course.

VW eGolf User (now not compatible)

Purchased Ohme based on the OVO advice.

could be a good one for Martin Lewis this.

Just one months notice, this is appalling!

My car is a 2023 Audi Q8 etron, but according to the compatibility list only 2024-on models are compatible. If I download the Charge Anytime app as in step 3, will I be able to try selecting my EV without disconnecting my Ohme charger from Charge Anytime?

This is such a ‘corporate’ BS move. I bought an Ohme charger THROUGH Ovo… It’s been super stress free having the Anytime Charging but now I’m left with an incompatible vehicle… How is this an “improvement” for clients? It’s an absolute sham.

Farewell Ovo… Your decisions are terrible and your focus on customers is terrible.

This is a fair point.

But I would suggest that 25% of the user base being impacted would make most business sit back and say, let's find a better solution, keep the status quo doe the time being or give me time. It's a 6 week notice period for people who will not be able to use the service anymore

That's appalling, this isn't the same as insurance where you gets 4 week renewal period

This is an absolute joke. Can anyone advise how this will work with scheduling? I currently don’t have it set via my Ioniq 5 and use Ohme to set it to complete at 8am with every day of the week selected in case I plug it in at night.

some of the app reviews for charge anytime seem horrific. It looks like you can’t see your usage and just your savings.

can anyone recommend another supplier to switch to worst case. E-on look to be good, I had a disaster with octopus so will be avoiding. Thanks.

Hmmm - Ohme seem to be pushing Octopus in their messaging. What was the disaster?

If you follow the link to the Ohme website it states that OVO have chosen to withdraw https://ohme-ev.com/support/anytime_update_1/?utm_campaign=OVO_anytime_tariff_all-ovo_e1&utm_content=ChargePush&utm_medium=email_action&utm_source=customer.io&utm_term=2025-06-03

Unable to sync my smart meter after I joined so was unable to use intelligent go. A total farce.

to be fair to OVO, they got it working but I’m a bit troubled now that my car is Beta and not fully compatible with the charge anytime app.

it has disaster written all over it again!

I've only been on charge anytime for 1 month, I got an ohme installed specifically because it was recommended by OVO for direct integration with this tariff (the best solution even, no need to pair your car, all automatic etc etc.), and I paired the charger with the tariff (rather than the car) per the recommendation.

My car is meant to be compatible thankfully, but following the steps above (removed add on, downloaded anytime app and linked to car) leaves me with a couple of issues. The Ohme app won't allow me to remove the anytime customisation (says I need OVO to do that, when the registration was done I think it changed the standard Ohme app somehow) and now, there is no indication in my OVO account that I have the add on anymore, only that I removed it.

Not happy that OVO were giving advice to get and use this specific charger 2 months ago and have now seemingly moved the goalposts.

Great News ! I dont have a compatible car (based on this article, along with 25% of their customers !) so in order to continue with a perk of driving an EV I will need to switch suppliers. I’m fixed in and Customer Services are saying that I will need to pay the exit fees (£100) even though this is a substantial change to what i signed up for …..Shocking way to treat customers.

I am the same, my contact with Ovo runs out 24th August but if you’re within 49 days of your contract expiring I believe you cannot be charged exit fees, so I’m hoping if I switch around 10th July to octopus so it’s ready for the 15th I shouldn’t be charged fees.

  • Suppliers will be required to notify customers that their current fixed-term is coming to an end between 42 and 49 days before the contract ends.
  • Between this notification period and the end of the fixed term contract, suppliers will be banned from charging a termination fee should the customer decide to switch.

Your opening paragraph on the charge anytime page is

“We're always working to improve your experience with Charge Anytime. We want to reward you for being an EV driver by bringing you even better features and the latest technology.”

Never has this been a more incorrect statement. Like many others I shall likely be moving to Octopus given the shambolic state of affairs with Ohme.

I’m absolutely livid, I bought the Ohme based on the recommendation from Ovo’s own website. I have got in touch with the energy ombudsman I don’t see how it is legal to insist people buy a particular charger and then withdraw support for it. Are they seriously telling us that the smart meter can’t distinguish the energy used by the charger - which has to be on its own circuit - so that they can just apply the tarrif on their end. This is so predatory. Even worse I’m locked in till Aug 2026. I’ll probably just pay the exit fee it’ll cost us way more than that to charge for the next year at 4x the cost.

Absolutely disgraceful. I have had two incompatible cars neither of which show any signs of appearing on OVOs list for the last 2 years. This has been fine up to now as I fitted the OHME charge point. My EV is my work tool as I do 25k miles per year all home charged. No notification from OVO only the email from OHME this afternoon. So I call OVO this afternoon and this is their advice , new charge point (£1k approx), swap car (it’s a lease with 2 years left) or swap supplier (really don’t know who).

All this with just approximately 40 days notice.
What I can’t understand is why OVO aren’t offering some supported solutions instead of sticking two fingers up to loyal customers. Free replacement or 50% towards or EV rate between 2100hrs and 0630hrs or some such. Just noticed I’m £2k in credit too so they can give that back tomorrow and I will no longer be recommending them on the motoring forums I frequent or to anyone with an EV as I previously did.

Absolute shambles that’s now going to cost me about £200pm more.

Very disappointed. Car less than a year took home charger recommended via OVO website. Has worked really well. Husband has has a stroke, and I'm not young didn't need this addition hassle of having to switch supplier. As this seems to be the best option. Very bad customer service. Sending a complaint to the ombudsman and possibly message sky news

Yes, Ohme have now posted an extensive help section in their app that explains how to do it properly for this issue (you have to delete your Ohme registration and create a new one, not mentioned in the OVO step notes above) I think I might have it working now, needed to set the Ohme (now in dumb mode) to add 0% though, otherwise the charger will just deliver charge to the car at standard rate until the Charge Anytime realises you are plugged in (it seems to take 5 to 10 mins for the app to catch up with the car when plugging or unplugging). See how we go. Sort of hopeful this may resolve the other issue I was having with failed smart charges overnight via the integrated route.

Also, in that Ohme help, they are very clear that it is not of their doing, OVO have withdrawn support.

This is absolutely disgraceful.

Forum|alt.badge.img

To add insult to this shambles I have still not received an email from OVO explaining what is happening to me as a customer using an OHME charger and incompatible car. I did though receive a marketing email from OVO offering me free insurance cover for 12 months on my charge point!

maybe I should just take them up on the offer and hope it suffers a calamity before 15/07/25. I wouldn’t do that though as I have more integrity than OVO.

13 years with OVO and it’s taken 30 mins to move to Octopus. Real shame they have drawn such a line in the sand with no offer of even cheaper rates overnight to soften the blow. In real terms moving from 7p per KWh to full tariff price would cost an extra £600 per year so off to octopus it is…so frustrating. Signed up to the fixed tariff at the end of Feb now likely to be stung for £100 to exit when I would have never have committed had this even been on the horizon

But for me doing £25k miles is an extra £1200 per annum without an EV tariff. Off to look at tariffs and take my £2k credit balance with me.
