Hey @Mrmikey,

That sounds frustrating, as you'd expect it to charge 100%. Have you checked to make sure the car's software is up to date? Sometimes this can interfere with the level of charge the vehicle receives. I've had a nosey online and you're not alone, other Renault customers are having issues with Ohme chargers, but are with different suppliers (Octopus in this case) - https://www.speakev.com/threads/charging-issues-with-renault-5.191805/

Have you tried calling our Charge Anytime team to ask them for advice and if they can help resolve the issues you're having?

Hi and thanks for the reply Chris.Yes software is updated ( you have to physically sit in the car to accept it as data sharing is automatically turned off every time an update happens).I think I will call the Charge Anytime team like you suggest as I haven’t seen anywhere online an answer to solve this problem.

I am thinking of getting a Cupra Born as my first EV.  Currently, there is an offer of a smart charger installation for £95, which seems too good to miss.  The alternative is a £500 charge credit.  The only problem is that the offer is for an Ohme charger.  As the Born is a compatible EV, I believe this should work and I would follow the instructions at the top of this thread, starting at Step 3.  Am I missing anything, or would I be better advised to take the charge credit and pay an effective additional £500 to have a compatible charger?  I suppose I am trying to gauge the relative ease and reliability of the two charging methods.

Hey @ianbar ,

Gonna be honest here… Ohme Chargers aren’t an amazing option at the moment. If it were me, I’d just take the £500 credit and buy something else like Hypervolt - you’ll get a FAR superior experience that way and can charge ANY EV you want.

That’s what I’d do!

Thank you.  Good advice and, to be honest in return, what I was expecting.  It is odd that Cupra have a tie-up with OVO but offer an incompatible charger.  They do offer an untethered ePod as an alternative to the Ohme, but that isn’t compatible either.

ePod = Ohme.

Cupra does partner with OVO, but that’s purely to allow Charge Anytime to work with their vehicles, that’s about the limit of the partnership.

Hey @ianbar

Glad to see one of our community members has already stopped by with some helpful advice here, thanks Blastoise!

If you do opt for the Cupra (only having the compatible EV), you’ll just need to follow the steps on the topic below:

If you end up getting with one of the compatible chargers installed, you’ll be able to set the charger up with Charge Anytime, then simply plug any vehicle in, and the charger will take care of everything instead:

Do keep us updated on what you go with in the end, it can always be helpful to other community members to here what others experience.😊 Best of luck on your EV journey!

It is a little bit more than that, as they offer 30,000 “free” miles credit with a new vehicle purchase.

Ah yeah, I forgot about that one. But either way, going for one of the supported Chargers will give you the best experience and should still allow you to get the charge credits - the proof of purchase of an eligible vehicle is what’s most important for that.

How do you get the Anytime rate for charging an EV when OVO no longer support the Ohme Home Pro.

Hi @AndySH ,

This is still possible if you either hook up via your EV using the OVO Charge app, or by replacing the Charger with a compatible one.

I could also change my car!

Its going to be simpler to switch to another supplier.

Hey @AndySH

It looks like @Blastoise186 has already stopped by to answer your questions, and he’s spot on! To take full advantage of Charge Anytime with your Ohme charger, you'll need a compatible vehicle or you might consider switching to a supplier that better supports your Ohme charger.

We’re really excited about some new things we have planned for Charge Anytime, so keep an eye out for updates coming soon!

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help!

Can anyone confirm that if you delete your car details from the Ohme app but keep the acocunt etc, are you still able to keep approving charges to secure the unit?

Yes, we have seen successful results with that from other forum users. You’re best off rebuilding the Ohme account anyway to properly disconnect it from Charge Anytime, but either way the plug-in approvals will still work.

If Ohme is saying otherwise, it is an issue with the support article on their side that (still) hasn’t been fixed yet.

I'm attempting to belatedly integrate an Audi Q8 etron using the CA app. It's a 2023 model which Ovo say is incompatible, but the software version on my car is said to be acceptable and the 2023 version is actually the same as the 2024 version according to my local Audi dealer.

I don't want to delete my Ohme account because some changes were made by Ohme to the settings to resolve charging errors. They added a trickle charge and Ohme say that they will be lost if the account is deleted. They say they can reapply the changes, but I don't have much trust in them to be honest.

If I don't delete my Ohme account but disable Dynamic Charging, Price Cap and regulated Charging Hours on the Ohme app, might charging through the CA app work? Please note that the Charge Anytime addon was removed from my account by Ovo in July or August.

Thanks.

I've read a few accounts where someone has advised people to delete their Ohme account.

Honestly I have no idea why or how someone thought it was decent advice but it's not and only leads to issues.

Your Ohme account is used to access the Ohme chargepoint as well as controlling various safety features duch as locking it it allows you to look at your charging history. It's entirely seperate from how OVO Charge Anytime works without integration to the Ohme.

Integration between OVO and the vehicle works without any involvement from the cgargepoint so any control of the cgargepoint still needs to be available and without the Ohme account tgat woukd not be the case.

Whoever is telling people to delete the Ohme account is doing so without any udea if the issues tgat will xause.

I've gad oeople say it was someone at Ohme who suggested it and someone else suggested it was someone at OVO. It seems that people sometimes get confused about which is which so it was never clear.

Suffice to say, don't delete your Ohme account and seek clearer advice.

I've not read the entire thread other tgan the post I'm replying to but I can confirm a number of people have foolishly followed tge advice to delete their Ohme account and needed a lot of help getting things back on track.

You're right to have concern over some of the abilities from Ohme so if that has stopped you immediately deleting your account it's been a useful concern.

Just to clarify…

Deleting the Ohme app to disable CA is NO LONGER REQUIRED - it’s already been disabled globally.

You simply need to disable conflicting features like schedules/dynamic charging from within the Ohme app.

Thanks, I've already done those things. On setting up the CA app it says I now need to re-enable the charge anytime add-on to my tariff. Is that correct?

Yes - please do that to resume service. But you MUST use the OVO Charge app from now on.

The OVO call centre person I spoke to last week said that the CA app will work till November 4th, is that correct?

You should migrate over to the OVO Charge app immediately regardless - the legacy Charge Anytime app could stop working at anytime.
