Change of apps from Ohme to OVO - can't charge car now.

I have an OHME charger for my EV. OVO emailed me and told me that they were stopping use of the OHME app and I needed to install the OVO charge anytime app. I followed their instructions to the letter.

3 days running I have tried to charge my car and the OVO app tells me it will be ready by 0700 - scheduled to ensure I get the 7p/kwh. 3 days running my EV has not charged.

I have emailed OVO several times but they have not bothered to contact me (quite how they are number 1 for customer service I do not know) even though I have to,d them that I am disabled and they will incarcerate me in my own home as I rely on my car to get out and about.

can any one help please? Has anyone else had problems switching apps?

@Troyser I’m just adding below the steps you carried out to fix this problem, that you told me about through our Direct messages. Just putting this here to give visibility to other EV owners on the Forum that may have the same issue:

I am to delete my account from OHME and delete OHME app then, when I plug the EV in, to set the ready time 4 hours later - something that I did when I first received OVO’s email.
I have only been to charge the car through the OHME app recently and this was charged to 100% last night so I will try to charge tomorrow afternoon.

Download the OVO Charge app from the App Store or Google Play.

Hi @Troyser ,

If it’s urgent, try 0330 175 9678 as that’s the fastest way to reach the team you need.

Their emails are VERY jammed up at the moment, so for anything that isn’t urgent, please hang in there and they’ll respond as soon as they can.

@Troyser welcome to the Forum, I’ve assigned your EV badge.

I hope you manage to get through to the Charge Anytime team soon - keep us posted!

Yes thank you Ben. Spoke to Amy at OVO who suggested what else I can do to get their app to work. This was deleting the OHME app and instead of leaving my scheduled time to finish at 0700hrs (I thought the idea of charging this way was to use electric when the grid was less busy) to set it to a nearer time (as it was plugged in at 11, Amy suggested setting the time to 1600) as the app would see my need to charge the car as “more urgent” and therefore would not “overlook” my schedule???!!!

Listening to what Amy was saying and reading between the lines it sounds like the new app is causing OVO many problems and they are only learning what to tell customers by listening to how customers have overcome problems! So much for an IT department at OVO!

I will wait until 1600 hours and let you know!

Well it’s 1600 hours and my car has charged to 92%. Not quite the 100% I wanted but thanks to Ben and Amy I will not be incarcerated tomorrow!

@Troyser Thanks for this update, it’s great when this sort of info is shared on the Forum as it can help others in the same situation.

I’m glad that you got a successful charge, and I hope it stays this way. Please rest assured our back office teams are making continuous improvements to the app and I hope you’ll see these reflected as time goes on. if you don’t have your app set up to auto-update I recommend doing this in your app settings on your device, as this means you’ll benefit from any updates and changes to the app without having to delete and reinstall it etc.

Ben - still did not charge the battery to 100% even by morning! I cannot wait until OVO sort this out!

and…… to top it all, We are nearly £200 in profit going in to summer on gas and electric and the want to put my monthly dd up by £57/month - what a joke. I cannot wait to leave OVO as I have discussed this with them before.

Emailed Amy as she said if I had any problem that is what I should do. NO REPLY.
So, I re-downloaded OHME app and it charged overnight!

OVO do you know the stress you are putting your customers under!!

@Troyser so sorry to hear that this is still ongoing. When was it you emailed Amy? Her team are very busy at the moment so may be delayed in getting back to you. You could always try calling in again if you wanted to speak to someone more quickly.

Ben, she emailed me yesterday - basically asking me if I had done what she asked me to do!

I replied that I had but had to reinstall the OHME app as this was the only way to charge my car!
waiting for reply……

Ben, I would word it;

  1. Remove all charging schedules from OHME app and your car.
  2. Uninstall OHME app
  3. When using Charge Anytime app, plug car in and set schedule for around 4 hours later (however, I have now set this for overnight charging and it has now worked).
