Hi,

I’ve recently had the Indra pro charger installed through OVO and it has been linked to the charge anytime tariff.

I understand how the boost button works and that may result in not getting the reduced tariff.

Just wondering how the off peak tariff works as I work a variety of different shifts so setting the schedule for the car to charge overnight every night and be ready for a certain time doesn’t always work for me.

If I remove the time schedules and just plug my vehicle in when parked up, will it automatically charge when the off peak tariff is available and the car requires charging?

Yes that’s right. Don’t set any times for charging. Just plug it in and Charge Anytime will do its work overnight.

Have you set up the Kaluza web based app? You should notice charging taking place during the evening albeit at the rate of 1.4 Kw. Then, later on and into the early hours it will pick up speed and charge at 7.4 Kw which is what you want. Job done by breakfast time. Don’t touch that boost button unless you have to.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply.
yes I set up web based app as advised by the installer who said the Indra app won’t work correctly.

I’ve plugged the car in now and it’s charging at 7kW with white induction LED’s that made me wonder if I’m paying 7p per kWh or my full rate of 26p per kWh

I’m slightly surprised that your car is charging at 7.4 on a Saturday at Mid-day. I think that the 4 white flashing induction lights mean that the car is plugged in and awaiting a charge. A call to OVO technical support on Monday  may reassure you that everything is ok and you are getting the discounted rate.

Two places to look:

The OVO energy hub online after logging in to your account with OVO although the data is posted slightly in arrears. The figure stated for ‘Your cars costs’ represents the discounted charge aggregated for the  month. You can also see ‘Your homes costs’ on the same page. The tab at the top allows you to switch between Kwh and cost of electricity consumed. You won’t see anything displayed on 1st month.

The other place is the Kaluza app itself which should be linked to Charge Anytime data and you should get a figure displayed for your daily charge.

I hope this helps.

I find that my car (a PHEV so only takes a max of about 8kWh)  will charge at any time if I change the target time to about three hours ahead
