Hi all.

I have an Audi Q8 etron and an Ohme Smart Pro charger which is compatible with OVO Charge Anytime. Can anyone tell me how I charge a second EV? Can I just plug in the charger, or do I need to change the vehicle on the Ohme app every time?

Thanks.

Howdy @Phil Smith ,

In this setup, you can just Plug-In And Go. No need to mess around as ANY EV you hook up to that Charger will get the Charge Anytime rate automatically.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's good news but will the charger know the charge state of the second car that gets plugged in, or will it default back to the Audi and confuse the charging routine?

It won’t know that it’s another EV, but that will not affect Charging which will function normally anyway.

Hi @Blastoise186 ,

I use an Indra rather than an Ohme, so this might not be relevant, but I’ve always assumed I should change the vehicle details in the charger’s app if the 2 cars have significantly different capacity batteries.

My logic is that, as it only allows me to set a ‘ready by’ time, it must need to know how many kWh it’s likely to need to deliver?

You can do that if you want, or you can just leave it be. Personally, I’d say leave it be unless the capacities are massively different TBH because the EV will stop taking charge when it’s done anyway.

Is there any update on the prospect if adding two chargers to the same charge anytime account?

Hi @BlueGoat ,

AFAIK you can only use ONE Charger at a time. It’s unlikely to change anytime soon. But you can charge ANY EV you want with that Charger and still get the Charge Anytime rates.
