Sorry @iantresman , the security settings don’t allow direct connections - even the IHD’s have to be paired before linking and use

Which begs the question, how does an in-home displays (IHD) pair to the smart meter first?
IHDs use ZigBee to communicate with the Home Area Network, just like the rest of the system. However, it’s locked down so you cannot access it.
Your best bet for integration is via the Hildebrand Glow IHD: https://shop.glowmarkt.com/products/display-and-cad-combined-for-smart-meter-customers
As you have S1 meters, you’ll want the S1 variant.

So I’m connecting to the IHD, rather than the smart meter?
Yup. It acts as a bridge and is the only approved way of connecting to the meters locally.
With the Hildebrand Glow unit you should also be able to get a MQTT feed for data use elsewhere. Just back to your original question, there’s no user control possible for a smart meter as that could lend itself to some questions about the data integrity
Hi @iantresman,
It seems our forum volunteers have already stopped by to give some good advice here. Hopefully it was helpful.
