Our community members have given some really helpful responses here. Just wanted to add the following:

Blastoise is right, if you give us some more information we’ll be able to give a more specific response @Snoopy34 😊

At this risk of this original thread being merged with the OVO DD Tutorial, I’m going to ask the question again to which I haven’t yet seen an answer (either in the DD Tutorial thread or elsewhere).

I recently queried why my DD payment was being calculated out to March 2026 - when my fixed price (FP) contract with OVO finished in October 2025.  I learnt that OVO were apparently aligning all their customer DD’s such that they achieved a £0 balance by March 2026.  This was obviously irrespective as to whether you were on a Fixed Price agreement that expired before that date (and presumably a FP agreement that expired after that date) or whether you were on a variable price agreement.  So far so understandable, although I still maintain it is a big assumption by OVO that customers on a FP will remain with OVO after their FP agreement comes to an end before March 2026.

The thing I’m still looking for an answer for is what methodology will OVO use as a means to calculate a customers monthly DD payments after this date.  Presumably and in the interests of fairness OVO will use the next 12 month demand period (April 2026 to March 2027) thereby incorporating fair representation of a customers annual demand (i.e. the low demands of Spring and Summer and the higher demands of Autumn and Winter).

Will this be the case or is there some other methodology planned?

NB.  If there is no answer to this question as yet,  then I’d be happy to be told this, but at the same time, be given an indication of when such an answer may be available to customers.  This is because DD payment methodology is something that customers, such as myself, value second only to the energy price being offered by an energy supplier and I wish to make an informed choice when it comes to choosing my next supplier.

Hey @Corgimajor

I’ve not been made aware of a methodology beyond the current calculation.

I’ll ask this query internally & get back to you.
