Add a box to the meter reading submission page on the website and a print button to record the submission figures, time and date.

I don’t see evidence this idea has already been submitted. This would save time and money for OVO, in dealing with unescessary queries, and give customers peace of mind that their figures were in process, and make billing more accurate. Most companies have this system in place and require photo evidence periodically the the metering is being recorded accurately

Not all customers are signed up to the SEG system of calculating their export as being 50% of their generation, Some of us actually have systems that predate the SEG system or were deemed too large for it. They have meters “Smart” or otherwise that give an accurate export figure based on their back feed to the grid. (we have such a system installed in 2012)

For us, and them, it seems OVO’s procedure is to contact the FITS team and give them the figures over the phone, This is both time consuming and labour intensive for OVO  and not reassuring for the customer.

It would also be easy for OVO to limit access to this box to only certain customers via their logins if there  was deemed some kind of security issue.

Non online customer can still use the current “Phone in” system, if prefferred.

It was rejected in the past.

"This isn’t something that we’re going to be looking into at the moment - this is due to Feed in tariff accounts (FiT) being run from a different backend system which isn’t integrated in the same way that OVO customers’ domestic billing accounts are.

Also the number of customers on fits means the total population of customers is relatively low.  The idea was raised previously in house and was rejected due to the above reasons."

I’m also going to shoot down your idea of having a print button.

VERY few apps these days on Android/iOS have a print button outside of document editors e.g. Google Docs/Sheets/Slides and the Microsoft equivalents and selected photo viewing apps. For everything else, just use the Share menu and hit print from there where supported.

As for in MyOVO, just hit Control + P or Command + P and use the print features of your web browser. Less work for OVO then on a feature that MAYBE only 0.1% of folks would use.

@Colin Wheeler

You may already have heard this.

Here are the latest annual stats on FIT licensees, to Dec 2022. They are published annually by Ofgem.

OVO have historically been a very small FIT licensee.

It will be a bit bigger since the SSE merger but some SSE FIT customers have left OVO and OVO didn't take on the SSE non domestic customers.

The suppliers with much larger bases of FIT customers may be worth chatting to if you haven't already, similarly the suppliers with large numbers of SEG customers.

Obviously some of these suppliers on the list may no longer be around e.g. Boost

evening@jeffus

Hear what you say,  we were dealt with by different entities whislt with SSE We are definately domestic for the power we import as this is for our home, however back in 2010 Solar installation of 50 kw were not common and particularly 3 phase so we might have fallen in a hole between two camps. We have today e mailed Ramans team so will be interesting to see how this is dealt with as  we did not request the move to OVO it has been put upon us, so the issues that have arisen are not of our making.

Better there is no further discussion on this until Ramans team have dealt with it!
