Need extra energy saving advice? These forum topics might be helpful:

If you're a homeowner, your local qualified Energy Expert will carry out a thorough home assessment. The service also includes a new Energy Performance Certificate. For customers who get their energy elsewhere, the service is £100, but OVO customers that own their homes can currently book a visit for £25. OVO Beyond customers get exclusive discounts and offers. Check what you’re eligible for in the OVO app.

Our experts carry out a full assessment of how your home uses energy. Then you'll get a personalised Home Health Report with advice to help you save energy and money along with a brand new Energy Performance Certificate.

To find out more head to our website here

Experts by name, experts by nature

Every home is unique. That’s why this service is tailored to you.

The more energy efficient your home, the less energy it uses. So we’ll work out which upgrades it needs to help you save money and cut carbon. That’s better for you and better for the planet.

Here’s what you’ll get

A visit from an OVO Energy Expert

Our Energy Experts are qualified home energy assessors. They'll go room-by-room, carrying out a top-to-bottom review of your home's energy efficiency. Think of it just like a health check for your home.

They'll take the time to understand your home and any future plans you have for it, as well as answering any questions you have on the day.

Personalised advice in a Home Health Report

After the visit, your Energy Expert will create a personalised report for your home.

It'll give you advice on the steps you could take to make your home more energy efficient – from insulation to switching your boiler for a heat pump. And it'll include details of funding that may be available to you.

Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

This officially recognised certificate grades how energy efficient your home is. And it tells you what your cost savings and carbon savings would be if you made your home more energy efficient. We’ll register your certificate with the government to make it official.2

Who can book a visit?

Interested in booking a visit with one of our Energy Experts? You’ll need to:

  • Be an OVO Energy customer. Not with us? Switching is easy.
  • Be the homeowner. We’ll need to register your new EPC with the government and for that we need permission from the homeowner. We’re working on opening up this service to those who rent, so watch this space.

Find out how it works on our Energy Experts page.

I’ve just received an email inviting me to book an Energy Expert, which I think is a great scheme btw. However I’m not with OVO any more (though I suppose I could switch back to make use of the offer), but as OVO know my address as I’ve had an account with them for years until recently, and I’m in Surrey so not available, why send the email???

Thanks for flagging this, @juliamc - I’ve passed that on. We should only be emailing OVO customers in eligible regions.

@eezytiger thanks for this. I’m told that whilst this Energy Experts promotion does indeed end from September, there will be something live from the 1st September that you might be interested in. We’ll post about it here so you’re aware!

Sounded a great idea, and I got quite excited about a PROPER energy efficiency review. I had an EPC as a requirement for solar, but was underwhelmed by the assumptions and lack of concrete advice or information about the practicalities of the suggestions.  How do you insulate ceilings?

But as with so many others, not available - perhaps because of living in the cold north east, where home insulation matters more.

Received the email as many others have, clicked on the link and as my account is migrating I'm unable to make a booking. Looking at a previous response from @Tim_OVO though i may not be able to book anyways as im in East Sussex.

Spoken to an online assistant this morning and apparently when my account is back up online i will be able to book but will the introductory offer still be available for me then ?

Hey @BrightonCouple

There are no plans currently to the offer extend past 31st August, but if we have any updates or changes to this we’ll update that on this thread, so keep an eye out here for future updates.

Well - as Aug 31 approaches like many others I still get “not available”  at my North Oxfordshire postcode.  Not at all clear what % of users get this response is: i.e. Have most people been able to book such a visit or is it a cynical “green-washing” bit of PR?   Dissappointing if the latter!

Tried multiple times in SW London and always the same answer - no visits available.

Great news, @JohnG. It would be great to hear back from you after the visit to hear how it went!

Same issue as a few have already reported.  I got the advert for this in the app, clicked on the link but no slots available.  However it looks like Bedfordshire isn't even covered.  Shame.  Any plans to extend the scheme to Bedfordshire and repeat the offer for those customers that weren't eligible this time round?

Hey @Tim_M,

That’s a shame! I’ll ask about this internally and get back to you on this topic 😊
