I have moved into a flat and removing storage heaters to fit electric radiators. However the circuit is on economy 7 and sockets dont work daytime. I know I can get an electrician to alter the fuseboard but it runs through the economy 7 meter so would need that removed?

Hi @Skinny01bq , not necessarily. You can have the meter working at the same rate on both time slices so no need to change it .. unless it needs updating at all?

Could you show us some photos of the setup?

I just have this one as at work currently

If you’re having trouble uploading images, feel free to send them by email to forum@ovoenergy.com and we’ll get a forum moderator to help out.

There are two consumer units one for storage heaters the other for everything else. Five tails on the meter. One goes through the economy 7 box and I want both units to be on standard. I set my account up for std rate but the timer built in doesnt allow other consumer unit in daytime

In that case, you may need to get the meter replaced in order to have things work the way you need them to. https://smart-booking.ovoenergy.com can get the ball rolling if you’re with OVO.

A new meter would be more simple but your electrician could just wire both feeds into the same supply so although they would switch, the same circuits would be powered. There’s no conflict as they are both at the same potential.
You would need to get the supplier to treat both as the same though (others have done this) and it sounds like you’ve already done this

Thanks. Have booked Ovo meter upgrade

No worries. I get the feeling it’s an RTS Meter which is going to need replacing anyway due to end of service life approaching. So I don’t see much value in paying for an electrician when the same result can be achieved for free by swapping the meter out.

Hi

Can anyone tell me who to contact or number to phone to arrange removal of a Meter for Storage Heaters which were removed a long time ago. The meter is redundant.

thanks
