Hi OVO,
is there any update on when the Zappi 2 charger will be supported on Charge Anytime please?
Many thanks

There are now two ways you can get Charge Anytime:
You must have an eligible EV or Smart Charger, we’re constantly looking into ways to broaden eligibility of this product so if your technology isn’t currently on this list keep an eye on our page for updates!
Hi
We managed to chat directly with Kaluza recently. Unfortunately, Zappi support might be tricky as they’ve so far been unwilling to play ball with Kaluza.

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply
Unfortunately we use the Zappi for the 2x PHEVs in the household which aren’t supported - a Golf GTE and Skoda Superb iV. Looking to move to a full EV at some point in the future but as we do a lot of miles in a 20 mile range the PHEVs are all we need for the time being. Any chance of adding support for these vehicles?
It looks like Octopus are planning to add Zappi support to Intelligent Octopus next month… which presumably uses the same or a very similar API/interface.

There are others on the forum who have got a Golf hybrid to work with a granny charger, although OVO have said they can't guarantee it will work so you won't find anyone from ovo recommend trying
The Skoda is on the Anytime App, so you can use your Zappi charger with this car.
Thanks
You’re right the Superb does seem to be supported, although the Golf option is there in the list on the app it says “Your vehicle is not compatible” on the next page. Shame as we do most of our driving in the GTE - the Skoda hardly any.
Please can the OVO/Kaluza team keep pushing MyEnergi on a Zappi integration. We'll be moving to whichever provider offers the integration!
I've just raised a similar question on the MyEnergi forum asking for OVO Charge Anytime / Kaluza support, I'll post any updates here.
Thanks

Options are limited. For example the Intelligent Octopus tariff says it is currently only for 1 vehicle unfortunately. So doesn't help, even though both your vehicles are compatible with that tariff. So with Octopus it would be the Go tariff for example.

That’s the case if you’re connecting via the car - you can switch between compatible cars at any time, but not have both configured simultaneously.
But I don’t think that’s the case if Intelligent Octopus is connected to a smart charger rather than an EV? For example the Ohme Pro can be connected to some cars’ APIs but there aren’t many car manufacturers that support that; the Intelligent Octopus details say if you have an Ohme Pro then you can use that tariff (regardless of the EV model). So based on that the tariff must assume no API connectivity between the smart charger and the EV - the charger just sees an electrical load and doesn’t know what the vehicle is - so you could use any number of vehicles. That’s my reading anyway.
Hello, first post from me!
I'm charging my vehicle (Nissan Leaf) with the Zappi v2.1 charger. I've been a longstanding OVO customer and id like to use the Charge Anytime tariff - but OVO say that my charger isn't yet compatible. The Zappi is a brilliant bit of kit.
MyEnergi say that they have an API for the Zappi for OVO to use - any idea if OVO will add the Zappi anytime soon, as I don't really want to leave if I don't have to?
Yes, I've seen this - MyEnergi tell a different story in that they have an API ready. Not my place to understand why two businesses aren't apparently communicating
The answer in my post over there was the latest information available at the time from Kaluza. It's not just about having the API available to use, it's about being allowed to use it.

Having just moved to OVO for a trial, I really don't want to change either of my two Zappi as my Leafs aren’t compatible. I would love some sort of integration - there must be an amount of Zappi owners who might join OVO with charger compatibility, as the Zappi doesn't work with cephalopod competitor either atm. It’s not like changing either the charger or car is exactly cheap.
Hiya!
Just a reminder, I don’t work for OVO.
As it so happens, one of my friends recently got the attention of a staff member from Zappi and mentioned to them that Kaluza seemed interested in getting it to work. It’s possible that it might happen at some point. I’d say watch this space.
Just to give a minor update on this, the Zappi 2 integration is now fully supported on Intelligent Octopus Go for off-rate smart charging.
We’ve now moved to Octopus and it’s working seamlessly.
Hope Team Ovo get it working for Charge Anytime customers soon, it makes so much more sense to integrate with the charger than with the EV.
