We have a podpoint EV charger installed at home. We are on simple energy tariff with OVO. Can anyone advise the cheapest time to charge my vehicle? We have been advised that our off peak rate for gas and electric is between 12 midnight and 7 am, however when charging my vehicle during this time the rate shown on my smart meter was £1.25 per hour, which seems rather high considering I only got 20 miles charge for 2 hours on my hybrid vehicle

Since the 1st November 2023, Charge Anytime has been offering 7p per kWh for smart charging. It can be added to any OVO plan, including electric-only households.

Who can get Charge Anytime

There are now two ways you can get Charge Anytime:

You must have an eligible EV or Smart Charger, we’re constantly looking into ways to broaden eligibility of this product so if your technology isn’t currently on this list keep an eye on our page for updates!

Hi @Lacey3103 ,

If you’re using Economy 7, the cheap hours are whatever your E7 Off-Peak times are. I must warn you however - there are NO cheap hours for Gas - it’s the same rate 24/7 for that.

You should consider Charge Anytime though - it may work out better for you.

I think you are referring to the in home display (IHD) rather than the smart meter @Lacey3103 which won’t necessarily show the correct costs.
You will need to check on your actual usage and bill to see exactly what has been charged
