MG HS PHEV and an OHME Charger - Can I be on Charge Anytime?

Hey, just got an MG HS PHEV, Ohme charger and went to swap to the OVO Anytime tariff (10p) to then find out my car is not listed (actually no MGs are) so looks like I cannot move onto the tariff?

has anyone else have an MG and found the same? Is there an alternative tariff or does it look like I now need to change provider as currently paying 32p flat rate all day which for the car works out not that much cheaper than a gallon of fuel.

From 15 July Ohme chargers will no longer be compatible with Charge Anytime. We’ve recently updated the technology behind Charge Anytime. This is so we can keep making improvements and create new products that reward customers for driving EVs.

It's not been possible to integrate Ohme with this new technology. If you have an Ohme charger you’ll still be able to sign up to Charge Anytime by connecting with an eligible vehicle. We’re constantly looking to open up the eligibility to more EV models so if you don’t see your EV here, keep an eye on our page.

You can see all eligibility details in our Charge Anytime page here.

Update all working and automatically charging off peak and only charging 10p per KW. Because the MG HS does not have API it means the charger cannot talk to the car, it all works as it should but you get some qwerty messages on the app saying and on the ohme box, I just ignore now as charges as I need it do so. I am sure if the car had the intelligence to talk to charger would be better, but not a function of the MG maybe as only Hybrid

Hiya!

If you have an Ohme Charger, you probably won’t have a problem - simply connect to the Charger instead of the EV. :)

Ah ok I only saw an option to pick the car and charger when setting up the App and it would not let me continue with out selecting a car?

Kaluza is an app that works between Ohme and the Ovo AnyTime App as a 3rd party. It only wants the car details as soon as you say my vehicle is not in the list it says sorry you cannot be on the anytime tariff at this point.

Don't use the app. Go via MyOVO

Ah OK so you think I can do without the 3rd party app. I will try that and see. The car is already fully charged as did yesterday at the high rate when the charger was installed. It is showing I have swapped to anytime on my Ovo so I will see next time I charge if it does at the lower rate. What has confused me was I thought I had to select a set time to charge the car each day using presumably the app to set the time. Do you think it just charges overnight in that case anyway for example if just using Ovo? Sorry very new to this all and a bit confused as it does say select when you want to charge, and if you have to charge out of that time will revert back to 31p ? Thanks

As long as you link the Charger correctly and set the schedules, it should work fine. You can get the team to check it’s all set up correctly if you email them via smarthome@ovoenergy.com .

The schedule can be set and forget. It’ll run a charge whenever possible.

Can I ask if you solved this and it all works now? I am in the same position in that I am about to swap to Ovo provided I can charge my MG HS Phev on Anytime tariff. Thanks!

Hi, I have not charged yet as fully charged on the full rate before installation. That was at 32p roughly and cost £4.50? I connected Ohme with OVO and is now showing the new 10p rate when I look on the Ohme app (I am ignoring the OVO app as it could not find the car). Online OVO also shows 10p. I beleive it should be automatic next time I charge so will let you know.
