Hi,

Looking at the Indra Smart Pro 4 as first EV charger. Read some reviews and it mentions wi-fi connectivity is not built in and that there is a wi-fi dongle which needs to be fitted which will make the charger wi-fi ready. Question is for installation, would there be an additional charge to this dongle being fitted - is this non-standard?

About to go through the process but don’t want something limited to mobile network data. Would appreciate if anyone has any insight/experience of this and if there was extra cost or hassle to get wi-fi ready.

Thanks in advance

Hi @fgl1975 , looking at the T’s & C’s if you need a dongle, it would be extra but they say they give you the cost upfront. … below is taken from those ..

“for Smart Charger Installations, you must have an electrical socket for us to plug the Smart Charger into. If you want to use the Smart Charger functionality, there must also be an internet connection. That can be a domestic broadband connection with a spare Ethernet port we can use, your home wi-fi if the Charger is within range or a wi-fi or 3G/4G/5G dongle. Both internet connection and power supply both need to be active and stable for use at all times for the Smart Charger to function as intended. Internet data usage will be minimal. We can supply a dongle at an additional cost. We’ll always inform you of this cost in advance.”

Hmm. Just spoken to OVO and they advised the dongle is part of standard installation cost for Indra Smart Pro.

Will probably go ahead anyhows. Seems to have pretty decent write-ups.

Thanks

Sounds like the need is built into their cost then. Hope it goes ok

I have an Indra Smart Pro Charger and it works just fine with my Smart Meter and the app. If you choose OVO anytime to supply the charger then it will charge at anytime of day when demand is low at 10p per kwh but it will be ready when you post the time on the app, which may be overnight.

It has been no trouble generally, a blip or two when I and my car learned how to use it. OVO very helpful over the phone.  Never been let down,
