Indra charger using Ethernet

Newbie question:  want to use Charge Anytime.  Planning to buy Indra Smart Pro charger, since this is on OVO list for suitable chargers.  Need to connect to Internet via an ethernet cable, as mobile signal where car is stabled is poor.  The ethernet cable comes back to my domestic router.  Is this route to connect charger to OVO’s Charge Anytime OK?  I ask because other chargers, e.g. Ohme Home Pro,  seem to connect via multinet SIM in charger, rather than being hardwired.

Advice appreciated.      Keith

Hi @LancastrianScot , Indra say

and I’m fairly sure someone has reported wiring via Ethernet. It just needs internet connection and as a compatible charger, you’ll be controlling via the charger app I would expect.
From an earlier post -

The Charge Anytime app is used for direct to vehicle (D2V) control. Where a customer has an eligible vehicle but does not have an eligible charger, they should use the D2V app. Where a customer has an eligible charger (regardless of whether or not their vehicle is eligible), they should use the charger app.

Many thanks for the reassurance.  I’ll feed back experience when available; unfortunately, that won’t be until Spring 2024, as the PHEV I’ve just ordered is not due delivered until ~end February  🙄

My Indra Smart Pro was initially installed with an internal 4g dongle to give it internet connectivity. It proved to be flakey, and would regularly drop connection, even though there's perfectly adequate 4g signal strength in the area.

It's now been reconfigured to use Ethernet by an Indra service guy, and seems much happier and stable. He in fact said to me that Ethernet is their preferred connection option, but that installers tended to pick the 4g method for simplicity.

MikeyB  That’s essentially what I wanted to hear  🤗   I haven’t ordered mine yet:  from what you say I’d need to specify the order to be configured for ethernet connection - or is that overthinking?  Can one do such reconfiguration oneself - I haven’t picked that up from Indra literature?

Hi @LancastrianScot , no it's not overthinking. Nothing about the Indra's config is do-able by the user, in my experience at least!
