Hello

Like most people in this forum, I've recently started having issues with my Ford MachE using charge anytime.

I seen on another thread we're hopeful to have an update today, can anyone confirm if we've a resolution.

Ill simply have no other option but to leave and join one of the company's offering a discounted EV

Just to let everyone know, Ive now been in touch with Ford technical support team, and they've confirmed Ford has no intention of updating FordPass to allow any third party apps to control it and don't anticipate this changing due security.

They also claim to have told Ovo this..…

Therefore unless Ovo can offer something immediate, Eon ar offering 7 hours offpeak (Midnight till 07.00) at 6.9p per Kw.

Peak Rate is pretty steep though

Didnt see that, so thats 7p more than Ovo currently

Ok, Debunk successful.

My contact at Ford has confirmed you were told bad info. Ford DOES intend to update/upgrade FordPass to support OVO Charge Anytime and progress is still being made between OVO and Ford to make this an officially supported thing. My contact agrees with me that it’s probably a case of whoever you spoke to not being in-sync with the latest advice.

He has also confirmed that even Octopus customers are still getting auto-banned repeatedly, so this isn’t just an OVO issue. At this time, changing supplier to another one that does Smart Charging probably won’t magically fix things.

Probably also worth mentioning that if you leave OVO now, you run the risk of NOT being reimbursed for lost Anytime Charging credits. OVO wants to make it up to you, but can only do so if you’re still on-supply at the point of credit distribution.

He’s going to try and get their Social Media Team to put something out there to clear things up. He will also look at trying to get these mixed messages fixed as well.

More updates will be made available when there’s news. My contact also prefers to remain anonymous so I can’t reveal much more than that right now.

Update for Ford drivers having issues with Charge Anytime

You might have noticed issues using the Charge Anytime app to smart charge your EV recently. That’s because, in March, Ford blocked third party access to their system following a review of their security protocols.

Unfortunately, this means we don’t have access to your charging data, so can’t provide Charge Anytime credit until Ford approves the use of third party access to their system. We know this is disappointing and are really sorry for the inconvenience. We’re working with Ford to resolve this, but unfortunately don’t have a solution yet.

A thank you from OVO

We really value you as a customer and want to thank you for bearing with us, while we work with Ford to fix this. As a goodwill gesture, we’ve added £25 energy credit to all our affected customers’ accounts. You need to be on supply to get this payment. You'll see this on your next bill.

We’ll be in touch as soon as we have an update from Ford.

Thanks

The OVO Team

Any progress?

Hey @Hesse12345,

Any updates will be pinned to the thread for everyone 🙂 The most up-to-date news we have is the one @Shads_OVO posted on 03/05!

Does Ovo plan on doing anything around Mays bill, like the did in April?

Hey @Hesse12345,

I’ve reached out to the team and asked them but we don’t currently have any news on this yet. I’ll get back to you as soon as I know more 🙂

Thanks Chris. Its getting quite frustrating now that you're at the detriment of Ford, which dont appear to be bothered. Yet we're paying a rate we didn't agree

I completely understand your frustration and agree with what you’re saying. I know how hard the team is working to resolve this, and it’s frustrating not to have more regular updates to share. Hopefully, the team will get back to us with more information on whether a new goodwill payment will be available in May. We’ll update the thread with any new information.

Thats the month of May complete on full rate for my EV charging.

I appriciate OVO is caught in the middle, but you now need to make a decision on whether you're going to continue advertising something you're not able to offer.

Compensation for May?

Prospect of being credited back the EV charges once the issje is resolved?

All gone very quiet

I now have direct contacts at Ford, as it so happens in the FordPass Team itself. They’ve confirmed to me that Ford and OVO are actively collaborating on developing an official, fully supported - and fully authorised - FordPass + Charge Anytime integration, and that OVO is next on the list of Charging Integrations to be activated officially - I’m told it’s literally at the top of that list.

As for OVO’s side? Ford has been temporarily de-listed from the Charge Anytime Supported EV’s list for a couple of months now and all references I can find have been changed to reflect this. It will only be re-added once the “V2” integration is ready to go.

OVO has also stated an intention to backpay ALL missing credits in bulk once FordPass and Charge Anytime are playing nice again as long as the required data can be retrieved. Please bear in mind that this would take an awful lot of number crunching to pull off, so it may not be 100% done immediately. However, you MUST be on-supply to receive these - if you leave before the distribution starts, OVO probably won’t be able to issue the credits at all. Caveat Emptor, as they say.

Thats great and you sound confident, however I do need to question why OVO are not honoring at GW for May?

Im around £300 out of pocket, £275 with the previous £25 gw.

You must appriciate, this isn't acceptable

Hey @Hesse12345

I appreciate your frustrations and we’re doing everything within our power to resolve this.

It's still under consideration by the team, but I'd like to emphasise that the previous goodwill payment was offered as a thank-you for your loyalty and wasn't to be taken as a monthly commitment from us. Once more information is available, we'll update the relevant threads. 😊

2 months have passed and no official update.

@Blastoise186 anything to report?

Unfortunately there are no internal updates, for the latest advice please see the ‘best answer’ on this topic @Hesse12345

Ok, looks like its time to leave.

£250 out of pocket and only a £25 reimbursement as a goodwill gesture.

False promises that this is being looked at, and prioritised.

Lies that Ovois looking at reimbursing all the *over charges*

Its disgraceful to take advantage of the customer when the cost of living is increasing at such a rate

As it so happens, I was talking about FordPass stuff with a contact of mine yesterday. They prefer not to be named, but are willing to let me post some elements of the discussion.

I write these notes for the benefit of all those who come here. Please bear in mind that these are my personal thoughts and views, so they don’t necessarily reflect the same views or position of OVO, Kaluza or Ford - they should be treated as my words alone.

In order to keep the Lawyers happy and not have them throw books at me, I also cannot reveal everything I know at this time.

Once again, I will post the reminder that if you stick around, OVO will attempt to reimburse ALL lost credits in bulk, as long as they can pull the required data. If you leave now however, you will NEVER receive those credits as leaving OVO automatically revokes the permissions required in order to do so. In the meantime, you are not being overcharged as long as you’re paying the standard rates for your tariff.

If you really want to leave, that’s your choice and no-one here will stop you doing so - but heed my advice above first. You have been warned about the consequences and there’ll be no further warning if you decide to leave despite this. Arguably, you probably wouldn’t be able to complain later either for the same reason (but also because leaving automatically nukes 99% of complaints).

As for the OVO Charge Anytime X FordPass V2 Integration (this is an unofficial name we came up with for it on the Forum btw), this stuff really does take time to develop and test thoroughly before it can even hit Alpha or Beta status - and it cannot be released outside of the testing labs until it hits at least Beta because it wouldn’t be anywhere near stable enough until then.

This is NOT a Dump N Go solution, not unless you want to have a totally half-baked product that never works.

That is why it’s taking time - because ultimately, OVO and Ford want to get it right this time.

I think we all understand the constraints you have here on the information you cab pass on but with my OVO contract expiry looming, I just need to understand if I am ever going to get a FordPass/OVO Charge Anytime solution to these problems or is this one of those jam tomorrow promises (a bit like nuclear fusion power plants) ?  The fact that FordPass are also at the same stage with Octopus and others does not give much choice really if you own a PHEV.

Please keep up the good work and let us know any developments that you can, without compromising yourself or your contacts.  Thanks again.

Ford has walked away from just about every energy supplier. You’re better off doing it via the Charger if you have a Ford.
