What is Greener Energy?
Greener Energy, previously our green energy add on, is our upgrade which can be added to any OVO Energy plan at any time! It combines traceable 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas for you and more renewables for the UK all in one easy step.
It does this by offering:

100% renewable electricity that can be traced all the way back to the generator (like a solar farm) thanks to *Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)*.

100% carbon neutral gas - 10% green gas, and 90% offset.

A fixed contribution each year by OVO Energy to support new renewable power generators, helping to build a better energy system.
*Power Purchase Agreement contracts* This means that for each unit of electricity you use, we'll make sure we're buying an equivalent unit of electricity from a renewable generator that we have a PPA contract with. This is where the transparency element comes in, we have chosen to buy from certain renewable generators and can therefore show where our renewable electricity is coming from.
Who is eligible for Greener Energy?
Interested? You can add Greener Energy to any OVO Energy plan, at any time. OVO Energy customers are eligible for Greener Energy if they are:

Dual fuel, electricity only or gas only customers

Are an OVO Energy pay monthly customer

Pay for Greener Energy by monthly direct debit, and
-
Receive all account communications by email (and ensure that you provide us with a correct and up to date email address)
How much does Greener Energy cost?
If you’re interested in our Greener Energy add on you can sign up for £10/month on a rolling monthly contract via your Online Account or by contacting Support.
How can I cancel?
You can cancel Greener Energy at any time with no exit fee! If you wish to cancel your Greener Energy add on, you can also do this online:

On the browser: On your online account, you will need to click 'Plan' in the left menu and click 'Cancel upgrade' under Greener Energy.

On the OVO app: You will need to select the 'Account' tab at the bottom, then tap 'My upgrades', then tap 'Cancel my upgrade'.
If you're unable to do this, please contact Support who can cancel it on your behalf.
You must set up a Monthly Direct Debit to pay for Greener Energy. Unfortunately we can't take payment for Greener Energy through any other means.
The first monthly payment will be added to your bill the month after you sign up and each month thereafter. You can cancel Greener Energy at any time. The cancellation will take effect from the following month.
