I got the same thing yesterday, lm a bit confused aswell, can anyone help please
Power Move is OVO’s own project whereas Power Move plus is a National Grid scheme - by invite only at present.
If you remember last winter, there was a scheme to reduce peak power usage called DFS (demand flexibility service). Several providers offer the DFS scheme but you can only join one of them.
OVO are offering their own version (Power Move) as well as the wider DFS scheme this time around.

See my edit above.
It’s a seperate scheme and has a new group on the forum.
Pity about the names being so similiar, no doubt that is going to cause some confusion.
@Nukecad @Paula59
Up to you. As @BPLightlog highlights you don't have to use OVO to take part in the Demand Flexibility Scheme.
The OVO version of the Demand Flexibility scheme isn't particularly generous.
OVO keep 20% of the money that you could earn.
Uswitch give you 100%.
You don't have to switch suppliers. You simply sign up to the uswitch scheme rather than power move plus.

If the money is important it is worth looking at the uswitch version before making a decision.
Seems to be a similar scheme with additional specific tasks to be carried out on demand from the grid. Looks like a lot of extra hassle for little return. 'Scuse my cynicism but instead of investing in making the grid fit for purpose the customer is being asked to bale them out of the annual surge in winter demand. Don't think I'll bother with this new game!

It is a fair challenge.
The thing is investing in the grid to be able to cope with peak demand is very expensive and it will continue to be expensive. This investment cost is being added to everyones bills. These costs are only going to increase.
Even a proportion of households working to shift their electricity will help reduce some of the need for investment and hence reduce peoples bills.
One of the purposes of these schemes is to see what is realistic. The main purpose of the Demand Flexibility Service is as an emergency response when there is a high risk of a mismatch in supply vs demand. A similar scheme for industry has been run in the past. Hence the trialing of the scheme again this year for anyone who would like to take part.
I had an email in my inbox this morning (sent yesterday) to join up to "Power Move Plus".
Mmm, I'm already on Power Move. Is this "Plus" something new?
Or is it just a mass email that's been sent to all customers whether that are already signed up or not?
Dunno if I need to rejoin for Novenber or not, I thought not but as the name seems to have changed to “Plus” then maybe?
So, click the 'sign-up' link anyway -
"Yes! You're on the list.
Thanks for signing up.
We’ll send you more info before Power Move Plus begins on 1 November."
Still not clear if a new sign-up for November was needed or not.
EDIT- Found it, it’s an extra scheme. It has a new group on the forum.
If a Power Move Plus event and a Power Move event take place at the same time then, you’ll be eligible for credit for both Power Move and Power Move Plus.
I tried to follow the link in the Ovo app. Seems you only need to sign up once.
@ Jeffus "Investing in the grid is expensive" Agreed but surely that's what profits are for - £4.9 billion last year, moreover £9 billion paid out to the handful of major shareholders (mostly overseas) in past five years.
Don't get me wrong, we all need to do our bit to protect the supply and I do. As a single pensioner my usage is minimal anyway, even so I am on track to hit the Power Move target.
The point I am trying to make is - how much is enough?
Hey @Paula59,
Check out its new Forum Group here for more details and discussions.

It is what is it now.
Although we have OFGEM to look after our interests in theory, we now have a privatised national grid, electricity production, local network operators etc. Those profits aren't often going to be reinvested.
I'm happy to comply with any requests to move my usage if it benefits my money at the end of the winter and benefits my supplier too, we all need to look after each other more. I'm a pensioner too and have small useage. My only concern is when we get notified of when to reduce, I only check my emails once or twice a day so a quick change in the next hour or so would be impossible.

Hi @Riam2015
The Power Move Plus scheme is OVOs version of the National Grid Demand Flexibility Service.
This is basically an emergency service when is looks like the grid may fail due to too much demand vs supply of electricity. There will be 12 test events and maybe some live events
OVO and other companies signed up are told at one of the following times for each event
1. Day ahead 14.30
2. In day morning 9.00
3. In day lunchtime 12.00
When the system is fully operational OVO then have 1 hour to bid if they want to take part. The National Grid then tell OVO if they have been successful within an hour after that. For some of the events there is no bidding, everyone gets to take part.
So if you check your emails once a day you should pick up at least all the "day ahead" events and maybe some of the others.
The events will typically be during the evening peak period for typically 1 hour. Any live events may well be longer.
Thank you beautifully explained, now I understand. To coin a phrase, 'every little helps'. I'll be adding 'my little' to the mix.
The communications that I’ve received from Ovo are less than clear on the subject. I joined Power Move in mid September and received a credit on my October bill. In mid=October I was advised that I was well below the target of using < 13.5% of my electricity. Later in October I was invited to join Power Move Plus and did so. When I got my October bill there was no mention of a Power Move credit yet I’m confident that I met the target.
I’m confused and would welcome some clarity/elucidation. Thanks in advance.
Hi @Mike K , they are running concurrently although Power Move Plus is designed around specific day events which are due to be signalled just before
Same as last year its 2 separate things, one is offered to ovo customers and the other one is offered to all customers no matter who their supplier is.
So you can opt in to both
I joined the Power Move Plus and was expecting to get emails to say when the challenge is being but so far haven't received nothing.
@Mike K
Ive not had the end of mth power move email yet either but ive just looked on the app for current bill at the details and £15 credit is showing now. It wasnt showing this morning. Last time the credit showed before i got the email.
For Sep both the credit and the email came on 3rd Oct, with the email just before 5pm , so im sure i will see it later today.

The DFS (Power Move Plus) hasn’t had an event yet. It will be called, usually the evening before
@Lucky2
There hasnt been a test or live event yet. There are only supposed to be 12 tests in the whole period, so its not something that happens daily.
@Mike K me to I was expecting an email but found out yesterday that it has already been credited to my account.
@Ria thank you for clarifying that.
Thanks to all for the replies.
As with the reports from the others above:
I also have not had the final result October Power Move email yet, but it is already showing online as £15 credit against my November billing.
Hey @Nukecad @Lucky2 @Ria
Good to hear you’ve all had your Power Move credit applied to the bills!
Apologies that you’ve not yet had an email, I did flag this to the team who have said that there has been a delay in some emails, but they will be with you soon to confirm the credit and meeting target.
