my pay as you go meter reading doesn't show my credit a electric power cut jus happened in my neighborhood the power is back. but my my meter reading not showing nothing

Hey @Carolina

Sorry to hear about this.

It sounds like the meter has fallen into the safety feature after a power cut, this happens to that you remain on supply and to protect the meter from damage during/after the power cut. If the meter is entirely blank, even after pressing the buttons, please contact the Support Team so they can come and replace the meter.

My key meter gone into safe mode and ovo wont reset meter but are forcing me to have a smart meter, they refuse to replace meter too even with another key meter saying they dont make or have second hand meters from other people who have had smart meter. Im hitting a wall. They wont answer why engineer did do any work when he turned up to sort meter out.

Like to see ove answer these questions

Hey @Davidge

Welcome to the OVO Online Community

If you need a meter replaced it would be replaced with a smart meter as this is what we stock & manufacturers are making. There are lots of benefits to having a smart meter, you can top up remotely & would no longer need to go to a shop.

Thats crap, you could replace with another key meter as you have lots from people who chose to have them, so dont give excusses about that.

There is no law about having a smart meter and you should have alternative in place.

@Davidge There IS however, a law that says when meters are replaced and/or installed for the first time, Suppliers MUST fit Smart Meters unless the installing engineer is unable to do so for a valid reason. No provisions for Traditional Meters are allowed anymore outside of a failure to fit Smart.

Additionally, the systems to run Trad Prepay are getting old and creaky, so can’t go on forever. For this and other reasons, a “Stop Selling these products” type restriction has effectively been placed against ALL installs of Traditional Prepayment Meters, regardless of how they operate.

Many of those removed from the wall are destroyed upon return so cannot go back up - they don’t get returned to inventory! Of those that do, it is no longer feasible to re-deploy them these days when better options exist. And besides, the old systems are slowly being wound down, so it is highly inadvisable to hydrate more accounts onto those when the whole idea is to slowly dehydrate them to zero and turn them off!

There is also absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that the installing engineer will even have any Trad Prepay Meters in his van - and if he does, there’s a 99.999% chance that they’ve been recently taken down from the walls of another property and cannot go back up.

Likewise, manufacturing of Trad Prepay was terminated like, a decade ago, because there wasn’t any demand anymore so the manufacturers pulled the plug on the production lines.

I’m sorry if you don’t like this answer, but at the end of the day… The heyday of Trad Prepay is over and it’s time to move on.
