Hello,

I'm a student sharing a flat with one other person. Because of this, we split the energy bill 50/50. I usually ask for the money on the final day of the billing period every month, but I've found that it always gets boosted up a couple days later for some reason and I always end up shortchanged. So my question is - how long from the end of the monthly billing period does it take to generate a bill, and therefore start the next billing period? Ours ends on the 2nd every month, so I expected a bill today, but nothing so far.

TIA!

Hi @mgrzy22 ,

Generally you’ll see a provisional bill in MyOVO within 24 hours and the next billing cycle starts immediately - there is no gap between one cycle ending and the next one starting.

You should receive the official bill within five working days of the cycle restarting.

If you look at your billing online you will see that the billing for the just-ended period shows as “Pending” for about a week after the period ends. (While it's checked and adjusted if necessary - say if there has been some missing snart meter readings that are now available).

Once ‘Pending’ changes to “ Bill Available” it is complete (and you can download a copy).
eg.

So you may want to hold off until that happens before you split the bill.

I can see our community members have provided some really helpful responses here. Does that answer your question @mgrzy22😊

It might be beneficial to look into getting a direct debit set up so you don’t have to worry about paying manually each month.
