Event: Our first online meetup of 2021
Our first online event of 2021
It’s spring, and it’s time to meet up. We’re not able to do this in person just yet, so we’re hosting an online event instead, our first of 2021!
Agenda
For our first event, we’re going to shine a spotlight on the OVO online account. There’s been pretty much constant development of our online experience in 2020 and 2021. This brings up plenty of talking points. So much so that we’ve created our own private area to discuss and feedback on these changes. If you don’t have access to the Tech Treehouse and you’d like to join, send me a private message to request this.
I want to see if there’s consensus between OVO community members, on features that you like and think work really well, and on those areas you’d like to see changed or improved. Come prepared to explain your reasoning, and lets see if the group agrees!
Platform:
We’re using Google Meet, which is free, cloud based (so no installs), admittance based and comes with some cool features! A link will appear when you RSVP to this event, which you can use to join the meeting when the time comes.
It’s recommended that you log out of your Google account, or go ‘Incognito’ in your browser before joining, to avoid your Google account name being shown. No personnel information such as email addresses is visible, and you’re able to choose to have your video and microphone off/on before joining.
Guidelines
-
After we’ve all had a chance to say hello and catch up, we ask that everyone mutes their microphone, giving one person ‘the floor’ to speak and be heard.
-
When you have ‘the floor’, we suggest you make an extra effort to speak loudly or ideally into a headset microphone, and at a reasonably slow pace, to make sure everyone can follow.
-
To make the group aware that you’re keen to have ‘the floor’, you’re able to use the ‘Raise hand’ feature on Google Meet.
-
If you have a question for the person who has or had ‘the floor’, you’re able to use the ‘Chat to everyone’ feature of Google Meet. We will have a dedicated note taker who will make sure this question is raised.
-
Please respect everyone’s right to be heard, to remain private (please use chosen names or forum user names), and to be free from abuse.
AOB
Please RSVP to this event so we can get an idea of numbers, and to get access to the meet URL. We understand that things can come up and you might not be able to make it in the end, and that’s OK!
We appreciate the time of any attendees and we’re really looking forward to seeing you there!
One last thing, if you have any questions or suggestions, we want to hear from you - just leave a comment in this topic.
See you on the 20th!
