Hello,

While charging my EV,  I have noticed that OVO energy pauses supplying current to the wired wallbox pulsar max charger.

This causes the charger to error and it turns red. Then when the current is resumed it turns green and car resumes charging.

This was causing me great deal off stress not knowing where fault lied, as I first thought issue was with charger? But thats not the case due to pause and resume - current fluctuation its the chargers behaviour.

OVO energy does this when the energy is not green. Today there is no green energy and my EV charger is failing to charge at all?

Can you confirm my understanding and provide a resolution?

Note : I have not signed up to green energy.

Despite uninstalling charge anytime the pause resume persists.

Many thanks

Hi @Noomi ,

OVO Charge Anytime does NOT manage that particular Charger so therefore can’t control it. That’s just how it reacts to the EV pausing the charge. Charge Anytime will run whenever it thinks it can - including during red slots if it has to in order to get your EV charged. But it will aim for greener slots whenever possible if it can find any.

I’d say have a chat with the team via 0330 175 9678 Option 2 in the morning.

I do not have Charge anytime, I had to uninstall as it was not compatible with mercedes EQC400.

I have already spoken to Charge anytime option 2.

therefore this question is for OVO energy supplier why do they pause and resume.

The pause and resume is just how Charge Anytime works - it pauses when outside of selected slots and resumes when you’re entering one.

OVO IS NOT messing with your Charger.

I have uninstalled Charge anytime, the charger is connected directly from wall and is controlled by wallbox app.

Unless you are telling me by default ovo uses charge anytime regardless -  even if I have not consented  for it ?

No, it does not. You consented to use Charge Anytime with your EQC400 - so it is running purely via your EV. The Charger has nothing to do with it and uninstalling the app alone does nothing apart from get rid of your control panel/dashboard for it.

I have removed my consent and uninstalled the app. There are no credits applied for the usage. The lady I spoke to  on option 2 saw the history account being deleted  so why consent still there between my car and ovo ?

If there is a form I can fill to escalate the matter then please share as I would appreciate if someone looks at the log files.

For last 2 hours there is no charge in car , is that because no slot is available? Despite I have not consented to it.

Thanks -

Then you need to talk to the Charge Anytime team. I can’t fix that from here - the team are your escalation point, not the Forum.

I do not have charge anytime not sure why this keeps coming up ?

I need to speak to OVO supplier therefore I have posted this question.

I need escalation for OVO not charge any time.

Please provide OVO customer service number or email address for my query to be answered.

Thank

Hey @Noomi,

That doesn’t sound right at all. It must be something within the EV settings or Charger that is still registering the EV as being on Charge Anytime. Your best option is to speak with our Charge Anytime team on 0330 175 9678 or chargeanytime@ovo.com.

Most of the team are out of office today for a Christmas event at our office so i’d recommend either sending an email today or giving them a call tomorrow. They’ll investigate this further with you and work on a solution to the issues you’re facing.

Keep us updated with your progress.
