ISSUE 1
I charge a BMW iX at home (managed from my BMW App)

I charge using Eazee-One (using Eazee-One App to lock able at night and authorise the charge so that no unauthorised person can charge while I am away)

I HAVE to use OVO Charge anytime App to set the schedule

Do I really need to use 3 Apps just to charge my car???  What happened to “easy charging with OVO”, especially when one should be able to charge “Anytime”??

ISSUE 2

REGULARLY, I set all 3 APPs up at night to charge to 100% when I have a long journey next morning…. and REGULARLY, I wake up to find that despite having set:

  1. Charging limits on My BMW App (and to check all is ready)
  2. Enabled Eazee-One charger (and check all is ready)
  3. Set accurate settings (Times and Max charging limits) on OVO charge Anytime APP, (even getting the message that “charing will start at 22:00” on the APP),

and yet when I wake up, I find that no charging has happenned AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGHH !!!!!

Why MUST OVO need to control my CAR as well as the CHARGER ????
SO many times  when you do that, you screw-up the charging schedule!!

Why can’t you just control the car charging (My BMW APP)?

Am I just a numpty...??? … or is it that OVO Charge anytime doe NOT work well all the time?

Please help!!

I think you need to ask the Charge Anytime team to dig into this one - they’re the best placed to advise.

chargeanytime@ovo.com or 0330 175 9678 Option 2 for existing customers.

It’s also possible that OVO’s control over both the car and the charger is part of their system design to ensure efficient energy use and cost savings. However, if this is causing issues, it’s definitely something that should be addressed by their support team.

The system is designed so that only ONE of the two should be under control at any given time - not both.

Hey @5mashing,

It looks like @Blastoise186 has made a great start in answering this.

You only need to have a compatible EV or charger to take advantage of Charge Anytime. The team advised “We'd say to just use the Charge Anytime App only. It links to their BMW to control the charging (we don't link to the charger at all). We'd suggest not setting any schedules in their BMW or Eazee (charger) app. Then depending on the Ready By time they have set it's normal for the Charge Anytime App to delay charging until the times it's cheapest/greenest for us to do so”.

I hope this clears it up for you and if you have any further questions, the Charge Anytime team are on hand to answer them 😊
