Does anyone know if a BMW iX1 M Sport 30 is compatible with Charging Anytime? The website says iX1 30 is compatible so to me sounds like it is, but when I called up OVO to check they could not give me any clarification, because as a model, there is no iX1 30, only variants like xLine 30 or Sport 30 or M Sport 30. The charger I am getting is not compatible so I need to be sure my car will be.

Hey @abdul_shariff,

Update from one of the team:

I would say it does as the M Sport just means there's more punch in the engine. I would say they’re compatible with this but its not on the official list. I’d recommend them to sign up with the IX1 30 option and see if it allows them to continue when they link their BMW.

Keep us posted with how you get on, your advice may help other Community Members with the same model.

There is an iX1 30 and iX3M Sport listed but you might want to confirm with the team chargeanytime@ovoenergy.com to be sure

It’s often down to the firmware installed

Thanks @BPLightlog - that’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do, for OVO to confirm whether my car is compatible or not and I’ve exhausted all OVO avenues including the Charge Anytime team with over an hour of phone calls this morning. I asked them if “iX1 30” as per their list (same as yours above) covers my iX1 MSport 30 but the best they could muster was “if its not listed its not compatible”. Not very helpful, given iX1 30 as a model does not exist. They said the list of compatible vehicles (your list above) comes from Kaluza but there is no way of speaking to Kaluza, their websites just direct me back to smarthome@ovoenergy.com. Its a never-ending loop!

Thanks @Emmanuelle_OVO for following up, that is somewhat reassuring but it begs the question what will happen if it does not work, since the PodPoint Solo 3 charger that BMW are offering to install for free is definitely not compatible.

Means I would have to replace my charger with an Indra or Ohme charger.

That is very true @abdul_shariff, it may not be successful. It might be worth getting a Indra or Ohme charger, then you’ll know for definite your eligible for Charge Anytime.

That’s £1000 expense (BMW installing for free) because OVO are unable to confirm compatibility for a car that’s been in the market for well over a year…. Highly disappointing.
